Why can't there be one day game in the World Series?
The last time a day game was played in the World Series was 1985. Ever since then all games have been played at night, which gets a little boring after awhile. Now I know that television is a big deal and they have to negotiate their schedules with both NCAA and NFL football, but televised football was around for decades and the MLB still managed to schedule a few World Series day games. In fact, all World Series games were day games until 1971. Would it be so hard for MLB to schedule Game One or Two in the daytime? For old times sake?

4. You answered your own question
On weekdays people aren't home to watch the games until after work (in the evening). On weekends, baseball would lose significant viewership to college football on Saturday and the NFL on Sunday. Why do you think Monday's a travel day? Monday Night Football.

5. For the same reason MLB condones fan interference
Rednecks watch NASCAR to see crashes. Networks like the bump they get from all those rednecks just waiting for a big one.

MLB doesn't actively encourage actual interference, but excited fans are tacitly encourage to "reach" for souvenirs, and when the result is interference, it causes drama, which is good for ratings...AND that's good for MLB.

MLB thus shows their contempt for their most avid fans (ticket buyers); because their desire to enjoy a fair competition is put in jeopardy by fan interference.

8. Sour Grapes, You Pathetic Cub Fan
Sheesh!!
That was NOT fan interference in Game 6!! The ball was clearly within the stands...the fan did NOT reach out over the fence into the playing area. Alou, in fact, had reached OVER THE FENCE trying to get the ball! What does that tell you??

It tells me there is NO WAY that the fan reached out into the active playing firld, which is required for a call of fan interference to be made.

Besides, your Golden Glove shortstop screwed up an easy play on the very next batter...and instead of a quick DP...or at least one out...all hands were safe and bases loaded...and the Marlins took advantage of it.

Yet, I don't see anyone hollering for the shortstop's head...like they are for the head of The Foul Ball Dork. I know his name, but I'll not repreat it here...the man has suffered enough. Let it go, you pathetic, whining Cub fans!! Let it go!!

No wonder you guys never win the big one...instead of being brave enough to point the finger at your own shortstop, for screwing up...you'd rather blame The Dork. Pathetic.

No guarantees Alou WOULD have caught the ball anyway...but, no matter what that outcome may have been, it is clear Alou was reahing INTO THE STANDS to try for that ball. Thus, The Dork was NOT reaching out into the playing field...thus, no fan interference.

You pathetic whining Cub fans...dunno whether to laugh at you or....laugh at you!!

WHITE SOX RULE!!!

THE CUBS WILL NOT WIN A PENNANT IN MY LIFETIME UNTIL THE WHITE SOX DO!! ADD MY CURSE TO THE CURSE OF THE BILLY GOAT!!
baaaaaa, baaaaaa
Hee, hee....I love it!!

Cubs suck!!!

9. You use such elegant language, yet you failed to.......
address the point. I'll repeat for you: MLB condones and even tacitly encourages fan interference.

If you have a response that isn't a girlish Waste Texas rant, I'd be interested in what you have to say.

14. Girlish Waste Texas Rant??
LOL...like that is supposed to be insulting??

Especially since I AM a girl...though not actually from West Texas...I live in Central Texas, which you'd know if you bothered to look at a map of Texas, since I believe I stated above that I live in Austin.

I find your attempts at imitating a Texas accent funny as hell, because you're not even close.

As to the rest of it...maybe MLB DOES encourage fan interference...I don't know...but THAT WAS NO FAN INTERFERENCE IN GAME 6!! Alou was reaching over the fence...indicating Foul Ball Dork never reached over into the live playing area...which is required for a fan interference call to be made, per the rules.

Lastly, it is not up to me to address the point of whether or not MLB encourages or does not encourage fan interference. you are the one who levelled the charge, thus it is up to YOU to back up your assertion. You, so far, have miserably failed to do so.

If you are going to level such a charge, be prepared to at least back it up.

I don't ever recall the Cubs intentionally throwing a World Series. Your team did a hell of a lot more damage to the game than the Cubs ever did.

And not having won a World Series since 1917, or been to one since 1959, you guys don't have a whole lot to brag about yourselves.

Oh, and one more thing. Those model White Sox fans who throw disco records on to the field causing a riot and causing their team to forfeit a game.

Pot, meet keetle.

15. Very Inventive and Original

Sheesh, this is hardly worth commenting on...
You sound like a Repuke...well, at least MY team never did THAT....

You sound just like the Repukes arguing that at least THEIR guys never got a hummer in the Oval Office. What the Freeper jerks who make that argument don't tell you is...the basic reason none of their guys ever got a hummer in the Oval Office is that no intern would WANT to give any of those Repukes a hummer!! :-)

At least we had to THROW a World Series...you guys ain't been good enough to HAVE to throw a World Series. Last time Cubs won World Series...who was President then?? TR??

1908, at any rate. At least WE won one in 1917...and we also were in one more recently than y'all...1959.

And the only WS where the Cubs and Sox faced each other was 1906, and guess who won that one??

Yeah, Disco Demolition was a real bad idea...but freaking Steve Dahl didn't even BOTHER to try to disperse the crowd, and quell the mayhem and rioting HE incited. Bad idea Bill Veeck got talked into by his son Mike. And certainly not a day to be proud of.

But at least OUR fans don't go around threatening to KILL someone, like you stupid Cub fans do....

I mean, come on...you post the guys name, address, phone number, place of employment, and picture on the Internet, and bombard him with death threats to the point he probably had to leave the city for his own safety...and you can't even blame your own pathetic team...your shortstop screwed up an easy play right after the Foul Ball Incident (and there's no guarantee Alou would have caught that ball anyway...) and your guys just CHOKED...imploded...and the Marlins jumped all over you.

Hell, you had that Series all but HANDED to you...Up 3 games to 1, last two games in Wrigley...and you couldn't get it done!! So what do you do? You blame a poor fan, and end him and his family death threats....and then righteously beat your chest pointing out the previous sins and bad moments of the Sox??

God, what a seriously Repuke way of arguing...if I didn't know better, bluestateguy, I'd swear you were a lurking Freeper! I mean, COME ON....

Freepers argue that way...Well, we're better because at least WE never did THAT....

I've seen lots of Freepers use that sort of convoluted logic to justify the sins of their people...including the most recent famous one to fall from grace...Rush!

Hey, just gotta say, bluestateguy...I like ya, and I respect ya...I really do...but man, being the lesser of two evils don't mean ya ain't still evil!!

I gotta say, you're reading too much of the Freeper junk because your arguments here are as pathetic as the arguments one might expect from a Freeper.

Like I said...I know better...you aren't a Freeper...but man, that argument sure SOUNDED like it came from a Freeper....

17. LOL...Another "Freeper" Argument
That was a coupla drunk buttholes.
They got what they deserved, too. If I'd been the umps, I wouldn't have pulled the players off those guys...I'd have let the players dispense their own justice on them morons.

Another sad moment in White Sox history, to be sure...but that is NOT on a level with posting a guys name, address, phone number, picture, and place of employment on the Internet and issuing death threats to him....

Whole differnt can of beans...and your argument still has the bitter tang of something a Freeper might come back with.

Jeez, bluestateguy....I like ya and respect ya...but you REALLY are staring to sound like a Freeper with these arguments...

Bring back the day game. That way you won't lose 80% of your audience in the 7th inning.

12. It's a pity. The WS day games took people out of their everydayness...
People would gather around a radio or TV set in school, in offices, etc. to keep up with the games.

The WS is nothing compared to what it once was.
