3. Never heard of them, but I think those obscure
local bands can be some of the bests. My uncle played me some music by The Tinklers (a local Baltimore band) and I was almost on the floor laughing at how funny they were (and they meant to be funny)! Anyway there can be some real treasures there!

4. You talking about Delta Blues?
Edited on Sat Apr-09-05 10:44 PM by davsand
As in John Lee Hooker or the OLD Muddy Waters type stuff? :)

Naaaaah. I've never heard any of it. Not even when I made my pilgrimage down thru Memphis and Mississippi. Especially not when I was was driving round in Clarksdale...

I made an assumption there--I suppose you could be talking about some of the old electric stuff like Hound Dawg Taylor, but it sounded like you were talking acoustic stuff. Once I gave a listen to the sample of these guys I was sure I had it right...

Thanks for bringing them up. Do they ever perform any of the Blues Fests? I'm not as fond of Chicago's Bluesfest, but over in the Quad cities they have an AMAZING little gathering over the Fourth of July weekend called the Mississippi Valley River Blues Fest that would be a great venue for these guys.

12. Delta--Robert Johnson would be the most famous
Delta blues artists.

Very Early Muddy like "I can't be satisified" or "ARollin and Tumblin" would be a good example of electrified delta style.

Hooker plays Boogie style blues, not really delta style

10. Howlin wolf rocks!
One of my favorite blues artists ever. His lead guitarist, Hubert Sumlin, is another of my all time faves.

9. some of my favorite music is old delta blues
Robert Johnson, Charley Patton. My favorite delta style blues though is early Muddy, recording in Chicago with an electric guitar playing slide.
