How do you get smell of burnt popcorn out of microwave?
I did this in the office lounge last week, and you can still smell it when you open the door.

It was a huge, smelly mess when it happened and my co-workers are still harassing me about it. I was thinking if I could get rid of the smell, they may forget about it.

Any ideas?

2. Lemon juice?
It's gets the garlic smell off your hands. It might work on the microwave.

5. I wonder if those microwave oven cleaning packets would work
They're made by the oven cleaner people (name escapes me at the moment!) You put a packet in the microwave and run it for a couple of minutes; the packet opens and a cloth emits a scented steam that cleans and refreshes the microwave. If you have a mess from an explosion, you can use the cloth to wipe down the microwave. They work pretty well for me, but I've never tried them for exploded popcorn.

..A: WE TURNED TO HELOISE FOR THE ANSWER TO THIS ONE AND SHE SAYS, FILL A LARGE, FOUR CUP, MICROWAVE-SAFE BOWL WITH ONE CUP WATER.

THEN ADD ONE FOURTH CUP WHITE HOUSEHOLD VINEGAR OR ONE THIRD CUP LEMON JUICE AND ALLOW THIS MIXTURE TO BOIL IN YOUR MICROWAVE FOR A FULL FIVE MINUTES. DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR OR MOVE THE BOWL FOR 15 MINUTES, SO THE WATER CAN COOL. REMOVE THE BOWL AND WIPE OUT THE MICROWAVE.

15. That's how I clean my microwave!
It softens up any dried spills and they just wipe off. It does leave it smelling fresh, too.

6. Someone told me once
You wet a sponge, dab on some good smelly dishwashing liquid and run it for a minute. I've never tried it, and thus assume no responsibility for any possible damages. :D

Good luck...that's a horrible stench. x(

7. Used Kitty Litter.
If you place a bowl of used kitty litter in the microwave, the smell of burning popcorn will be completely eliminated.

8. These tricks have worked for me ...
Cut an apple in half, sprinkle it with cinnamon and put it in a bowl with a little water in it (don't cover the apple). Cook it for five minutes.

OR

Cut a lemon into several small pieces and put it in a cup of water. Add a couple of whole cloves. Cook for five minutes.

Good luck. :-)

14. Blame it on someone you hate.
Why not? People would believe you if he/she is mostly disliked by everyone else.

16. Because they already know I did it
There were witnesses — lots of them. One guy watched the smoke pouring out and another held the door open while I flung the bag outside. Then, there were the people who closed the door to the breakroom because of the smell and the boss who asked my what I did when investigating the source of a suspected fire and the rest of my co-workers who clapped when I walked into my cube farm area.

Suffice to say, it wasn't one of my more stellar moments. :P

20. Put a bowl of water...
...and squeeze a lemon in it, then get another lemon, and cut it into round pieces and place in the bowl, in side your microwave. Turn it on for around five minutes and just let it steam up in there. Once that is done, grab an old rag and clean it out.

This is how I clean mine, and believe me it works every time.
