I haven't had meat in a week and sweets in over two weeks.
I've taken a multi-vitamin every day for three weeks. I feel good. I feel like I have MUCH more energy.

I thought I would have a much more restricted diet as a vegetarian, but if anything, it's forced me to re-think foods I didn't normally eat. So I've been more adventurous. I've loved it, to be honest.

I've NEVER gone a week without meat. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

Just thought I'd share. The no sweets has been harder, and I've been sorely tempted a few times. But I haven't given in. And I noticed with sweets, the longer I've gone without them, the easier it is to stay away.

ANYway.

1. Read Roald Dahl's "Pig"
It's his short story tribute to vegetarians.

No meat's pretty easy if you can cook well. When I was in school, I'd go a week without meat and not even realize it. Vegetables based meals are cheaper than meat based ones. Good luck keeping it up. Don't feel bad if you have to cheat every so often.

2. I'm not a vegetarian, but I could go a week without meat.
My real question is...are you still doing the exercise videos?

5. The walking? Yep.
Though I don't need the videos now. I know all her basic moves and until I can get one I haven't done (I have one in my queue) I'm just going to keep wearing my pedometer and doing the walking.

3. Giving up sugar will
give you lots more energy that is for sure. I know when I do eat it I feel sluggish. I don't eat red meat. I gave up all meat once but somehow I am back to eating some of it. Good for you. Your body and the animals thank you.

after I became a vegetarian in 2000 I noticed increased energy within a week. I get more protein now than when I ate meat. I also weigh the same as I did when I was in High School and graduated in 1990. This choice of diet may not be for everyone but I dig it. Regarding sweets, I grew up in a diabetic household and never developed a taste for sweets. I do like beer though. :toast:

6. I like a cold beer once in a blue moon.
Yeah, it's been just one week and I definitely have more energy, I can tell.

7. Almost seven years for me.
I don't miss it a bit! Don't know if I could give up candy though. I have a major sweet tooth.

Congratulations on both counts and good luck!

17. Nope!
And I don't really think of it as a diet. Just changes in eating habits. No more meat for me!

It's way easier than I thought.

18. Good for you!
I'm on my 9th meat free day myself. Feeling great, too! The only thing I've done as far as reducing my sweets consumption is remove the high fructose corn sweeteners. When I started paying attention I noticed they were in almost everything I liked.

I proud of you BB. Keep up the good work! :)

I thought of you the other day and wondered how you were doing with it. Looks like we're doing fine, huh?

Yeah that nasty corn sweetener is in everything.

21. Yep, were doing fine.
It's not that big of a change for me. I actually think I'm eating much tastier foods now that I've got some good vegetarian recipes.

I've only eaten out once since I started this and it was Chinese. Easy to go vegetarian there.

Keep up the good work! :)
