Secret Guilty Pleasure TV Shows you will confess you watch!!
Edited on Sat Oct-18-03 08:20 AM by LynneSin
Come on, I know we watch more than PBS, C-Span, Frontline, BBS and Crossfire. We are not TV elitist snobs.

Confess!!! What's yours??

Mine: Survivor, Bold & the Beautiful (when I'm home from work) and reruns of Beverly Hills 90210 on FX.

I'm ashamed....but they are great guilty pleasures!!

Confess to yours!!!

19. LOL!
The accents, the whining, backstabbing had me larfing! I was actually rooting for Cousin Michael since the others treated him like shite.

In the finale ole George got "choked up"......another piece of bad acting on his part. He needs to stay away from the sunlamps.

6. The Daily Show
Fake news from John Stewart. It makes me laugh sometimes. Other than that, my tv sits unused most of the time. I watch VHS and DVD some, and sometimes I'll tune in C-span if there's something significant on, but mostly I look at the internet or try to spend time outside.

14. Blind Date
It's hypocritical of me to admit having just posted a thread in GD about how our culture has deteriorated.

But I still like it. (The only one of those shows I do.) I think it's a little more good-spirited than most of those shows, and is almost a subversive satire.

It's almost like watching sketch comedy. I keep expecting to see Carol Burnett walk out as her famous "Eunice" character.

Survivor and....

Supermarket Sweep. But only when I want to get my mind off of serious stuff. Honest!

(The partner gags when it's on.)

On edit: The partner also gags when I watch The Iron Chef, particularly when the main ingredient of the day is still squirming.

20. That invasive reality show
House Hunters, where home buyers are filmed in their most vulnerable moments, in the triumph of victory and the agony of defeat. I can't get enough of it.

And I watch Sponge Bob sometimes.

26. Fear Factor!
I don't get to watch it much now, because I work when it's on, but when I was on disability leave I watched it every week. I love that show. The middle stunt is always my favorite. That's the gross one, where they have to eat roached, or get covered with maggots, or drink cow bile, etc. And I love the host. He used to be on one of my favorite shows, News Radio.

My husband is very glad I'm back to work, because he liked to watch Antiques Road Show, which is on at the same time.

32. I got addicted to it at one point
I mean, they find the most OBNOXIOUS criminals and give them time on the Telly.

I remember one time I got pulled over by the cops. Oddly enough I had just finished a beer about 10 minutes earlier but it was my only beer of the night. I was going home in a direction that I use to take all the time from a previous job but hadn't driven that way for years, so I didn't realize that they changed the lanes around (and I was going the right direction, but in the wrong lane for the turn I was making).

So the cop could smell the beer and forced me to take a breathilizer test (which I barely made a blip on it since it was only 1 beer. But while I was waiting to take my first and only breathilizer test all I could hear was the theme song for cops in my head and reminding myself to be very polite especially since I had an asshole of a cop who pulled me over. He got pissy at me after I took the first test and wouldn't show me the results and insisted I take it again which I did. After the second test he STILL wouldn't show me the results and insisted I was cheating and said I needed to take it again. At that point I was like "I'll take it as many times as you want me to take it but all I ask is you show me the results after each test". Fortunately when he threatened to haul my ass downtown and toss me into jail (for what I have no clue - but damnit that cops song was playing REALLY loud in my brain) a second cop walked up and heard the little tirade. I played real nice and reiterated again "I'm happy to take the test, I'm just asking for what my results are" - I was a point 0.001 (i wasn't even close to the legal limit), which at that point the cop was simply harassing me. Fortunately the second cop said sorry to have bothered you and I left without getting a ticket.

After that night I stopped watching COPS

33. Yeah, but I ... REALLY ... HATE ... THOSE ... KIDS!
The most obnoxious TV children ever, especially the oldest. I love Tim and his wife on the show, though she's often just a fluff character, there to provide a foil for Tim's comedy. They started giving her some depth in the later shows, thankfully. Home Improvement is a good show, even despite the kids.

Tim Allen was a REALLY funny standup comic before he got all Disneyfied. If you can find his original, unedited comedy albums and videos, throw a party and invite all of your friends to watch 'em. Absolutely the most hilarious standup comedy I have EVER heard.
