"Cookie Monster" To Get Healthy - Eat Fewer Cookies
<snip>

NEW YORK -- The Cookie Monster is straightening up his act.

"Sesame Street's" beloved blue, furry monster is going to learn some lessons about moderation as the children's show kicks off its 36th season on PBS.

Cookie Monster will now advocate eating healthy. His "C is for cookie" song has been replaced with a new song -- "A Cookie Is a Sometimes Food."

There's more.

The show's vice president of research and education said each episode will open with a "health tip" and there will be new characters -- such as talking eggplants and carrots.

Show producers said with the rise in childhood obesity, "Sesame Street" is focusing on teaching children about healthy foods and physical activity.

2. Add more skits about eating healthy but leave Cookie Monster alone
Geez, he is called "Cookie Monster." Whats next - turn him into the "Carrots and Soy Milk Monster"?

3. Awwww.
When my kids were small, they knew Cookie Monster was a harmless joke.

I can even remember telling them that Cookie Monster was fat and crazy because he got too much sugar with all those cookies. We laughed about that just as much as Cookie's antics.

Isn't anything a parent's responsibility any more?

T is for tofu. That's good enough for me. Tofu-tofu-tofu starts with T!

8. reprehensor has a funny story....
about going to some strip club in Alberta years ago, and the girl did a routine to "C is for Cookie," where she was doing interesting things with her....

Oh never mind. I would almost have wanted to see that though.

of assuming that when a child sees a monster on tv eating tons of cookies that he's advocating for you to go eat cookies. EVIL COOKIE MONSTER!

this is just like saying, providing condoms in school for sex ed promotes sexual activity.
oh, and sponge bob too, he turns all those kiddies gay ya know? :eyes:

i'm totally for teaching good eating habits on the show, but to change cookie monster??! i loved him....he's so cuddly....

don't take him away from us sesame street!

11. Oh, the Irony
They have to change a beloved puppet to make him more politically correct rather than telling the kid - "Turn off the freakin' TV and go build a tree house!!!!!"

12. What the fuck is this all about?
How about instead of changing shit with the characters, end the show with this message:

"GO THE FUCK OUTSIDE BEFORE I CUT YOUR DICKS OFF AND FEED EM TO THE CAT"
