Here's a helpful website for dealing with debt collectrolls
I just read about this site while reading an article in my paper's business section, and it's fantastic. It was founded and is run by lawyers with experience dealing with collections law and debt collectrolls. My parents are now being constantly harassed by them all day long since they've been going through a rough patch financially and are on the verge of losing the house they've worked hard for for thirty years. Their health insurance premiums went up drastically, which has really cut into their retirement checks and funds. I know a lot about collections law, the Fair Debt Collection Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act, but I learned even more from this site.

Check it out: www.StopDebtCollectorsCold.com

This will be especially useful given the probable and horrendous changes in the bankruptcy laws.

1. Thanks for the link. I got involved in a company that does the
same thing for a lot more. They provide letters and phone support. It was working well until I got my first law suit. It's all a numbers game to these credit card companies. Just keep harassing as much and as long as you can to see what you can get. With Bush getting back into the White House and the jobs going overseas as fast as possible, I ended up going bankrupt. Still going through that. It's not pleasant either. Best of luck to your parents.

2. The great thing about this site is that
it gives you a lot of information on what you can do yourself, you don't always need a company or lawyer's intervention. Although, you should always have a lawyer when filing bankruptcy.

The most important thing is to know your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Collectrolls count on people being not knowing their rights under the law and being intimidated, but if you know your rights, including what collectrolls can and can't do, then that's most of the battle right there.

4. That site is an infomercial for some lawyer selling a book
I don't see any information there except if you want to buy his book.

7. I've started my own independent
paralegal services business. I'm also writing resumes/cover letters and researching jobs and businesses for people as well.
