I just got tickets to see Jane Fonda

at the risk of starting a flame war....

She's appearing at a theater just up the street from me later this month. So I bought her book at the local independent bookshop and got two tickets to the event, where she will speak, and then sign her book.

So I'm gonna meet Jane! Whee!

Did I mention I love her? I reall really LUUUURV her.

9. Fuck those people who just can't let go...

of something she did THIRTY FUCKING YEARS ago. Christ, there are some people who won't be satisified until she's dead. And sadly, a few of those people are right here. I don't quite understand why some alleged liberal Democrats (which, the last time I checked, was what Democratic Underground was all about) are displaying such blind hatred towards Jane Fonda....who, was, if I'm not mistaken, a liberal Democrat. But maybe that's just me.

But, Dookus. Go, enjoy and have a great time. It sounds like a cool event. :-)

She was very good on Letterman last night, explaining why people still feel that way.

She gave two reasons: First and foremost is that it's a sign that the nation has never come to grips with the war or done anything to heal the wounds it caused. Second, is that a far-right agenda is being pushed and she's being used as a tool by narrow people for political purposes, and if it wasn't her, it would just be somebody else.

If we look at the big picture, though, we see that Fonda was entirely right about the war, and her critics were entirely wrong.
