Hello there, my old friend
Not so long ago it was 'til the end
We played outside in the pouring rain
On our way up the road we started over again

You're livin' a dream....Wo you on top
My mind is achin'....Lord it won't stop
Thats how it happens....Livin' life by the drop

Up and down that road in our worn out shoes
Talkin' 'bout good things and signin' the blues
You went your way....I stayed behind
We both knew it was just a matter of time

You're livin a dream....Wo you on top
My mind is achin'....Lord it won't stop
That's how it happens....Livin' life by the drop

No wasted time....We're alive today
Churnin' up the past....There's no easier way
Time's been between us....A means to an end
God it's good to be here walkin' together my friend

You're livin a dream....Wo you on top
My mind is achin'....Lord it won't stop
That's how it happens....Livin' life by the drop
That's how it happens....Livin' life by the drop
That's how it happens....Livin' life by the drop

1. *sigh* I miss him.
And I chose to see David Bowie instead that summer. =(

In Memory of
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Bright lightning drew up from deep in the south that even a blind man could see.
Intense and raw, determined that his voice would be heard across the miles.
Little did he know how much the storm would affect us all.
The "Flood" would immerse us in a torrent of sound and sights unrivaled.
When his touch met steel, the result was truly a work of natures power and art.
The voice, his thunder, echoed throughout the depths of our mind. Pure and deep.
A symphony, ever to be remembered. Unwilling to be forgotten.
Walls crumbled. Lives changed.
He remains!
I hear it still, that soulful rumble, in storms that pass this way.
They take up where he left off.
In this way he is with us to this day.
In this way he will be permanent in the history that he wrote himself into.
Forever missed, forever remembered.
Brian Cross

3. Doyle Bramhall still performs that song live around these parts
He credits SRV with the definitive version, though, and it is.

Miss ya, Stevie. You could put a hold on that neckbone and make that guitar cry and scream and talk....

Ain't seen the likes of ya since....
