Maroon 5...ever hear of them?
My buddy is touring with them (He works for the company). I was just wondering if anyone here ever heard of them.
He just drives trucks, but gets us in to shows when he is in town, just to visit. He said this Maroon 5 has "hits for little girls"..lol.

5. Yeah, sounds about right
My bassist just called and my friend (the one on the tour) is online. He asked me to ask my bass player if he still wanted the tickets for his kids (8 and 10)..LOL. So yeah, I guess they are a kiddie band.

7. Me, too.
It's pop music for sure, but catchy, well constructed.

Good car driving music.

8. Not all-encompassing.
They do not encompass the "jam band" flavor of lame, so you are technically incorrect.

They do, however, encompass every other sector of the lame picture.

10. I have never heard of them
I must be "out of the loop". I would go only to say hi to my buddy. I have turned down a lot of these shows he does, but he has done a few good ones. Tom Petty with The Replacements was a good one.

21. Oh, wow, you went to that?
I badly wanted to see that show, but tix were way too pricey. (That show was back in the day when folks like me was called "slackers," y'see.) The 'Mats kicked ASS live, I always wish I could have seen them on a huge stage, even if they were entering into their sucky dotage by that point. I dig a lot of Petty's stuff, too, and still haven't seen him perform. What a great hook-up.

Anyway, if I were you I'd check out some clips of Maroon 5 on iTunes to decide whether it's something you'd want to subject yourself to. :)

22. Unfortunately I miss some of the Replacements set
I probably wouldn't have been able to afford the tix back then either, but my friend got a row of tickets from the Heartbreaker's drummer (Forget his name). So we didn't pay. By the time we got back stage everyone was pretty much gone, so I broke in to their beer supply and just hung out till the crowds cleared.

15. They have one song I like
"Harder to Breathe" was catchy as hell; kind of a retro R&B-pop sound, except slicker. I thought I might actually like them. But then the follow-up "This Love" sucked (IMHO) and the third single "She Will Be Loved" sucked even worse (IMHO) so I gave up on that.

I've only heard their singles, though, which sometimes aren't the best representations of what a group's album might sound like.

17. Okay, I'm not gonna argue for the band's hipness....
Edited on Thu Apr-07-05 01:21 PM by SouthoftheBorderPaul
BUT, their tunes are really catchy. I especially like This Love. Yes, it sounds like warmed over Jamiriqui (who the fuck cares how to spell it) but it's infectious nonetheless. I like to think of it like this: The Bee Gees are among the lamest people on the planet but they write music that forces you to shake your ass. Something to be said for that.

PS: How can someone NOT have heard of Maroon 5? Seriously, I'm not saying these guys are long for the rock world but to not have even heard of them....gees.

18. I like the song "Harder To Breathe"
How dare you say that my behavior is unacceptable
So condescending unnecessarily critical
I have the tendency of getting very physical
So watch your step cause if I do you'll need a miracle

You drain me dry and make me wonder why I'm even here
This Double Vision I was seeing is finally clear
You want to stay but you know very well I want you gone
Not fit to funkin' tread the ground that I'm walking on

When it gets cold outside and you got nobody to love
You'll understand what I mean when I say
There's no way we're gonna give up
And like a little girl cries in the face of a monster that lives in her dreams
Is there anyone out there cause it's getting harder and harder to breathe
Is there anyone out there cause it's getting harder and harder to breathe

What you are doing is screwing things up inside my head
You should know better you never listened to what I've said
Clutching your pillow and writhing in a naked sweat
Hoping somebody someday will do you like I did

When it gets cold outside and you got nobody to love
You'll understand what I mean when I say
There's no way we're gonna give up
And like a little girl cries in the face of a monster that lives in her dreams
Is there anyone out there cause it's getting harder and harder to breathe
Is there anyone out there cause it's getting harder and harder to breathe

Does it kill
Does it burn
Is it painful to learn
That it's me that has all the control

Does it thrill
Does it sting
When you feel what I bring
And you wish that you had me to hold

When it gets cold outside and you got nobody to love
You'll understand what I mean when I say
There's no way we're gonna give up
And like a little girl cries in the face of a monster that lives in her dreams
Is there anyone out there cause it's getting harder and harder to breathe
Is there anyone out there cause it's getting harder and harder to breathe
is there anyone out there cuz its gettin harder and harder to breathe

23. They actually write songs, play instruments, and sing live!
Please, people, don't be so hard on Maroon 5. With all of the corporate crap being shoved down our throats out there (I'm mainly talking about lip-synching phoneys), we should get get down on our knees and thank God for Maroon 5.

From what little I've heard of them, they are a power pop band with a lot of energy. That is a good thing!

B-)

I wasn't putting them down. I never heard of them. I typically don't put too many styles of music down. There is a need for all types and we aren't forced to listen to anybody.

26. I like them...
they're certainly nothing earth-shattering, but they're not N'Sync either. Better than straight pop, just fine for mindless music. I guess I would rate them higher than most of the other dreck that's played on <insert the top 40 station of your choice here>.
