Well, THAT was fun!
I had a tooth extracted this morning - the last molar on the upper left. Wheeeee, what fun!

The tooth broke during the extraction, making it more difficult to remove. I almost swallowed a piece of it.

The extraction was two hours ago and I'm still bleeding quite a bit, but I had to remove the gauze so I could eat some mashed potatoes. I have to eat, because the anesthetic is wearing off, and I need something in my stomach so I can take some Vicodin before the pain gets worse.

Please tell me you are having a better day so far than I am.

2. I'll bet 99.5% of us are having a better day so far.

The worst that has happened to me is cleaning up puppy poop.

I hope you can get the vicodin down soon and go to sleep! Try a smoothie, the cold will help as well.

3. Get well soon, man!
BTW, I walked out on my dentist yesterday. He had religious propaganda in his waiting room and a huge, gilded-framed poster commemorating scrotum's re-election.

4. I had that done 3 weeks ago. Filled the scrip, came home, put a pillow
on the sofa and drugged myself up for the duration. Did they have to use the little hammer and chisel thingie on your broken tooth? Thank god for my perio's carpentry skills. :)

The worse part of your day is over. From now it gets better!

5. There were a lot of tools. He switched tools two or three times.
At a couple points, my mouth was stretched so far I thought my lips would split. The extraction took about 10 minutes, but it seemed like forever.

I'd much rather have root canal. It's not as hard on the mouth AND you get to keep your teeth.

I took the Vicodin 12 minutes ago. It better kick in soon.

7. Oh, don't envy.
I'd much rather be back to normal than having to take narcotics for hideous mouth pain.

It's been 18 minutes...when is the damn Vicodin going to kick in?

9. I took one, per the instructions, which is
500 mg aceteminophen and 5 mg hydrocodone.

When I need relief from ordinary pain, I take 400 mg ibuprofen.

It's been 35 minutes now, and the pain has lessened somewhat, but *only* somewhat.

12. Sometimes it's better to take the pain pill on an empty stomach so
it's more effective, and then eat. Feel better, baby. :loveya:

14. That's strange, because when I lost a molar,
I didn't have any pain afterward because the original source of my pain was gone.
