I'll bet you didn't know that I'm a bad-ass.
:hi:

I jogged 1.5 miles today w/o stopping to walk.

I'm feeling particularly bad-ass-ish about this. Until 10 days ago I had never jogged (intentionally) in my life.

1. You Go Miss Millie
Are there any 5K races in your area? 3.1 miles, usually with a T-shirt and post race party thrown in. They are a lot of fun. Sounds like you got a mini-endorphin high.

Check out www.runnersworld.com. They have good info on running and may be able to give you info about local running events.

You just keep on getting that badass down the road.

2. I used to do a pretty good amount of running in high school
I NEVER experienced "runner's high". Unless that's just the extreme shortness in breathe from an asthma attack.

8. Back in the 90's
I was runing 100 miles a month and I did at least one ten mile+ run. I do believe I got that endorphin high which occurred after the long runs. It was a wonderful feeling. Nothing beats a good run, however, now my knees are mush, probably because of all that good running I did in my early years.

3. I've been reading John Bingham in Runners World
I'm a self-proclaimed penguin.

I'm sure there's a 5K race to be found somewhere around here, but I'm a long way away from that, to be sure. I won't rule it out for the fall though.

9. You are closer than you think
and you don't have to run the whole way. The events are for fun. A handful of guys will get out front and race for a trophy, everyone else will have a good time, get a t-shirt, drink beer and enjoy the day. Make a Nike Commercial - Just Do It Badass!!

4. No I didn't know that!
You've always seemed such a nice lady that the word "bad-ass" never occurred to me.

If someone asked me to jog 1.5 miles I'd deck 'em! So good for you!

So you go, girl, and strut your bad-ass stuff all over DU!

Khash.

13. Well, I am a nice lady
but now I'm a nice lady who is finally taking care of herself properly.

I feel like I can do anything. I even have plans to push my car home tonight instead of driving it.

12. Good for you!
I'm proud of you. I can't really run more than a mile without my asthma bothering me, so I walk then start running again. I just started taking Singulair so hopefully that will help.

I know that this has been a long journey for you and I think it's great. Congrats! :woohoo:

15. Thanks bob!
I use "bad ass" because it's what I call the cadets in my son's NJROTC unit when they win IDR metals at their drill/color guard meets.
