So, I may be giving the roomies an ultimatum tomorrow
They began working out in the morning so, some days they're up at 5:15 Am. They have no consideration for HEyHEY nestled snug in his bed trying to catch a few Zs. Slamming doors, wearing shoes on the hardwood floor, all this. I've spoken with them many times about being quiet and they give me this, "I don't get it, how are we loud?" Shit.
My father left for work every day at 5:30 am and he woke me up maybe twice a year. If I get up to leave, you will not be woken up either. So it's not hard to do.
This is having an affect on my life, as I end up sleeping in later because I'm tired from losing sleep as they get ready for the day.
Tonight I told my roomie "Please, I'm sick so be extra quiet tomorrow as I need all the sleep I can get."
She said, "No" and gave me a menacing look, but she was probably just being a smartass.
If they wake me up, I'm telling them, "if this doesn't stop I'm giving my notice."
Which would be bad for them as they know no other people to fill my place should I leave and they can't afford to live here without me.
They're nice girls and I love the house, but I can't put up with this.

1. Wasn't this an episode of "Three's Company"?
If it wasn't, it should have been. What would Jack Tripper have done?.. ;-)

9. Here's the plan...
The next time they wake you up early, secretly call the police and file a noise complaint. The cops arrive and hilarity ensues...

10. Say that is good
My other plan, that I really considered was waking up an hour before them and making noise

staying up late and being loud while THEY try to sleep.

35. OMG! I was just thinking that as I was reading the initial post.....
actually I was thinking: "What is this? Three's Company?"

(it was HeyHey's reference to being snug in "his" bed and then the roomies are nice "girls")

hey, HeyHey--can you live there if they leave? kick 'em out (or threaten to)

5. It seems like it's only two things...
...close doors quietly and put on shoes right before walking out of the house. They should be able to do these things, easily. If not, maybe losing the place doesn't mean as much to them as you think.

7. I haven't given them the ultimatum yet
The thing is they're just "Stupid" when it comes to being quiet it's like they can't register what loud is.

30. It sounds like
your roomate days are near an end.

Eventually everyone wants a place of their own and that's a good thing. Sounds like you're close to that point.

I bought my first house at 23 and it was a great decision though finances were tight for a while. Everyone needs a place of their own.

Good luck to you.

8. Wow, sounds like a straight edge version of "Three's Company"
If you were having an amorous relationship with either or both of these young ladies would their morning noise bother you? (I'm 1/2 serious about this question).

12. YES
It's not hard to be quiet... they're both sleeping now and I'm quiet as a mouse.

 I should go unplug their alarms while they sleep!

21. HEyHEY, I'm definitely on your side but you need to re-think your
priorities. I mean seriously, you'd really care about a little noise if you were having a hot relationship with them? Here are my recommended priorities for the young bachelor:

--Lust and so forth <== Very Important
--Beer/other alcoholic beverages (etc.) <== Very Important
--Night life
--Money (enough to support beer and night life; the lust should be free)
--A car
--etc.
--etc.
--etc.
--etc.
--etc.
--etc.
--little noises in the morning <== Not Very Important

PS. You have some of the best images on DU, which is a high compliment. My wife loves polar bears so she sees a lot of your posts when I show her the bears. Come to think of it, my wife makes a bit too much noise in the morning, maybe I'll give her an ultimatum.

24. It is important to me though
Because it wakes me fully up. ANd I hurt myself last week cause they were being loud and I figured "Okay maybe if I put my fist through this wall they'll shut up."

I ended up almost dislocating my shoulder.

29. Good, don't hit the wall. I've seen several teen/twenty guys who
have real nasty casts from hitting the stud/2x4's instead of the dry wall. They stay wrapped up for about 6 weeks or more. No typing!!!

25. How can you support lust, beer and nightlife when people wake you up at..
5:30 AM?

Think of Maslow's heirarchy of needs! The ones at the bottom aren't the most important in and of themselves, but they are essential to going after the ones above.

Self Actualization: Championship sports without interruption.
Esteem: After a long night, these help clear you out.
Social: Being sober enough to make a decent judgment on partners
Safety: Sleep w/out disruption
Physiological: Beer & chips

16. Bullshit!
You've also complained about them leaving their laundry in the machines.

And were they not the ones who led you astray into the trendy (or at least trendy in the 1990's but kind of played out now) coffee shops with the poetry readings, rather than encouraging you to stay in the bars where you belong. Did this not lead to some difficult event, whereafter you proclaimed that you would go back to the place where you belong.

I bet they slack on chores and dishes too!

There are only two solutions, kick them out or nail their windows shut and toss in some fire and block their door of escape.

"And were they not the ones who led you astray into the trendy (or at least trendy in the 1990's but kind of played out now) coffee shops with the poetry readings, rather than encouraging you to stay in the bars where you belong." - No they were dead against that (still haven't been back by the way)

They're great with chores and dishes though.

ANd there was some good guitar pickers. So I started going every thursday. Thank god I did, sometimes we need to be reminded of why we'd rather be in a dingy tavern opposed to a coffee house.

17. I'm totally with you
I had a roommate that insisted that the air conditioner be set at 85. We lived on the 3rd floor. We live in TEXAS. It was MAY. It was so freaking hot. I would sit with the window open, fans on, and just wearing panties and a tank top, and be sweating. I'd sweat when I got out of the shower. I'd be sweating putting on makeup. It was so freaking hot.

One night after she fell asleep, turned the thermostat down to 78. I cooled off enough to sleep that night. The next day she called me at work screaming about how she "woke up freezing" and if I wanted to keep it that cold I should "pay more than half the utilities."

I closed her vents in her bathroom and bedroom, and it was good. Until the next day when she saw they were closed and she opened them.

Oh, and no one at work believed me either. Until I was moving and I sold my desk to a co-worker and she and her boyfriend came over to pick it up. Then they realized what I was living with.

Needless to say, we broke the lease early, and I haven't talked to her since.
