Just come down here to the southwest and listen to the evangelical protestants spout off about Catholics.

Once at the UofA this preacher noticed the cross around my neck and began shouting at me ""ohhh a Catholic! does your priest molest you son?? is your mother a whore??"

It's not easy bein Catholic sometimes we get near death threats from the right wing and scorn from the left from certain types who think all Catholics are no different than the fire and brimestone nutjobs (who put us at the top of their shitlist).

Oh well I've just decided to not let it bother me anymore.

I'm Catholic (fallen-away) and live in a pretty Catholic city in the Northeast, so I've never encountered this virulent fundy hatred. Once some snooty Episcopalian I worked with in the suburbs called me a Papist but that was it. The Watchtower ladies knock on the door wanting to preach but they're very polite. I tell them I'm not interested and they smile and say Have a nice day.

I don't think I'd last two minutes in the kind of situation you describe. As I say, I'm not a practicing Catholic, but I do remember the nuns teaching that God is Love. Ugly people like that would definitely get my dander up. How religion is perverted to make people hate I'll never never understand.
