2. If you hold Oscar in as much contempt as I do, it's still obscure

What can you say about an institution that ignores Citizen Kane and Dr. Strangelove and gives its highest honor to turkeys like Ben Hur, Rocky and Forrest Gump?

3. Vertigo
The "Carlotta" theme, makes the hair stand up on my arms the first time when Scotty Ferguson observes Gavin Elster's wife staring at Carlotta Valdez's portrait, then again during those soundless rapid cuts when he follows her into the mission. Also, the absolutely sick Tristan und Isolde like theme that accompanies Scotty's second meeting of the kim novak character. Sick, Sick, Sick!

7. I agree
I would add the opening music. Combined with the eye it was so unsettling and set the tone for the movie. The entire score of Vertigo is brilliant. There was actually more music than dialog in the film.
