Quiz show letter-turner Vanna White owns two Learjet 35As.
They are operated by Clay Lacy Aviation of Van Nuys, California. Vanna derives a pretty good charter income from these two bad-boys. Think about that next time you watch Wheel-of-Fortune!

Vanna strikes a pose.

Vanna boards one of her Lear 35As.

Vanna on board.

My old friend Grant McLaren interviews Vanna.

5. I quit as editor-in-chief of an aviation trade magazine because of this.
The publisher, over my objections, used a picture from this same shoot for the cover of the magazine (the picture below). The same publisher used a picture of the Pope of Rome sitting in the first-class section of an AeroMexico B-757 in advertising copy in that same magazine in the mid-90s (over my objection).

2. As long as it is all on the up-and-up, I say good for her. She needs some
thing to fall back on when the letter turning gig is up.

3. Why?
I'm sorry, but I don't understand how she became a multi-millionaire by turning around letters on TV...
It's IMO a slap in the face to all the hard working people in this country that have real skills and talents.

4. Why?
The same reason actors get millions a movie or athletes millions a season.

The hard working people are willing to part with their money .

6. Right, but...
actors and sports celebrities actively DO SOMETHING.
Vanna White turns letters around. It's not even needed for the show to function. They could just illuminate the letters after someone guesses.
I understand the people parting with their money bit, but do people really get that much value from Vanna White on the show that she should be a multi-millionaire?
Probably.
Oy.

7. I'm schizoid on this one. One side of me questions "values."
On the other hand, I did happen to catch the closing minutes of Wheel of Fortune a few nights ago (for the first time ever!) and Vanna said something that tugged at my old liberal heart. She was telling old what's-his-name (the WoF host) about low-tippers in her waitress-ing days. She sounded sincere and well informed. If so, good for Vanna. Here's to Lear-O-Jetting!

11. Pat $ajak is a big-time bushbacker;
I doubt he gave a frick about her past and anything regarding her present must surely be lip service.

9. Do they?
I do not know. The decision to pay her salry is most likely an economic one. I don't get value from the show w/ or w/o her.

My guess is that the producers have made the determination that her presence is worth the money she is paid. Heck, she may own part of the show.

8. It's called the f***ing lucky club
There are a few utterly talentless clods running around in life making millions for no apparent reason: Vanna White. Ed McMahan (sp?). The bass player in Van Halen.

10. Damn, I wish I could make as much money for doing so little as she does.
Yup. Wearing high heels, making silly comments, and tapping a touch screen is reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal hard work. :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm:
