Poll question: So, it's going to be 80 degrees in Washington DC today.
Is it finally time for me to take down the Christmas wreath on my front door?

19. June through September are my favorite months in DC
And I'm DC born, bred and buttered. Hot fun in the sweltering DC summertime. Wish I was there today.

Are the leaves on the trees green yet? Probably a little too early.

I wonder if people who have never been there, realize what a green green lush green city DC is.

5. Just throw a fake daffodill on it
it will become a "Spring Wreath".

I actually just keep a grape vine wreath on my front door, I can make different bows according to the season. (Christmas red, rest of the year, pale green.)

20. We did take off the red bow a while back.
Now, it's just got pine cones, which aren't Christmasy, but I do think of them as more of a fall/winter decoration. Maybe some daffodils would work.

we used to do that in my family when the relatives we only saw in the summer would come to visit. There was nothing like eating a full-course Christmas dinner when it was 100 degrees out! :puke:

Keep up the Christmas wreath-add some lights too so that way you won't have to be out in the cold stringing lights in December!

You can decorate the tree differently for every season!
I just took the eggs and rabbits off mine, and now have it decorated for spring!

Just be careful in July. Fireworks and a dry tree don't mix well.

You'll have to play catch up since you've missed a few holidays.

I'd add a heart for Valentines Day, beads for Mardi Gras and a bunny for Easter.

Those are my choices, feel free to adjust to fit your needs. :)

By next Christmas you should have a lovely all season wreath.

49. Hi, Skinner. Yes, you'd better leave it up, given the --
-- prevailing political climate.

And if you haven't already, be sure you post the Ten Commandments in a very conspicuous place so as not to ruffle the far-right's feathers. They're a touchy bunch.

The Ten Commandments in huge neon letters blinking red all night long -- maybe on the roof -- would probably insulate you from the Judge Moore types.

The wreath is the least of it.

59. Well.....I had my wreath up until three weeks ago....with the red bow...
Edited on Thu Apr-07-05 09:15 PM by KoKo01
Thought my neighbors might get worried, but no one knocked on our door to see if we had "lost it."

We debated over putting a black bow on this year, but decided it would call attention to our distress since we had signs all over our Repug Neighborhood for every Dem Candidate running in NC. We just didn't want to make ourselves look pitiful with the black bow.

However,we felt something a little rebellious was in order so we left the wreath and windblown bedraggled bow up way past the normal time.

Now, my post is true about my wreath. But, I think you were funning us with your post...

The dogwoods are out here and some azaleas have begun blooming and the pine pollen here in NC is covering everything. But, Spring has come, and it does lift one's spirits no matter how in the dumps or depressing otherwise one's circumstances are if one is a Democrat in these times.

:-)'s to Spring. It always comes no matter what.
