My Dog Has A Serious Thing For Dirty Diapers...
I have a wonderful dog. The kind that convinces your friends to get one. Then they find out it isn't just like yours...

I have ONLY ONE complaint. She loves to tear up and eat dirty diapers (and occasionally a pair panties will loose a crotch). Just the evil brown ones. Yellow does not seem to appeal to her.

We first noticed the issue when we were visiting friends with young kids. It was a bit of an embarrassment. But, it was sporadic at best.

Now we have a baby of our own and it has become a bit of a problem. Still does not occur with great frequency. But the other day the kid had a major episode. I was working, listening to the baby monitor and heard a little bit of noise from the room. I just figured it was the dog sniffing around. She does that. It is usually harmless investigation. Didn't make the connection to previous incidents.

Baby Sonia And Our (Otherwise Awesome) Dog, Puzzle.

About an hour later, I went into change my now awake daughter and found a poopy diaper disaster. She had pulled several items out and ripped them up. Some were eaten Others just spread all over. Needless to say, I was busy for a while.

Yesterday afternoon she just didn't seem right. After a short time she began "harfing" and up comes a slimy, apparently intact baby wipe. Bad.

1. Dogs just seem magically attracted to poo.
I don't understand it at all.

2. BLEECH
My Weiminarainer (sp) used to do that... My inlaws since took him so no more diapers half eaten.. My doberman mix doesnt do that, she rather eat candy wrappers and crayons laying around.

I found that using baby powder and A&D or some other cream kinda deters them.

3. Interesting. Maybe I'll try sprinkling some on.

I hate to have to put something on top of the trash can since, you already need more hands than you have with a little one. Something less labor intensive for me would be a big help.

4. When I used
the a&d or baby powder the dog wouldnt touch them... he'd eat the ones without the cream/powder. I'm due with my 3rd this august and have one still in diapers (will be 2 in May) and a 4 year old, so its always a trial and error thing :)
