Poll question: How many remote control units are in your household?
Or do you own? I just counted 16 of the damn things in my house (most not used because we use a universal or two), between all of the audio and video devices and we are hardly state of the art, technology-wise. How many do you have?

2. You forgot the zero option!
Remote controls use batteries which are terrible for the environment, so even if you're one of the people that own a TV with a remote or a VCR with a remote, it's still best that you don't use it. When you don't have cable, and can receive only two channels, it's much easier to live without a remote. Of course, that's just me.

Over 2 billion (yes, 2,000,000,000!!!!) batteries are thrown away each year in the US. They contain mercury, silver, cadmium, lead, lithium and other heavy metals. They do horrible things when the metals leech-out into the ground water, and they're even worse when, like for example the landfill near my house, they incinerated trash.

12. Oops
Meant to put a zero option, but it's really more of "how many do you own", not a usage question, since they seem to come with everything these days. I counted 16 in my house, but we really only use one universal and a DVD remote.

5. So many I can't give you an accurate answer.
Unless I were to collect them all and count them. At least 20.

10. Can't possibly count them all,
remotes for tv's, cable boxes, vcrs, dvds, cd players, receivers, air conditioners, toys. It's the invasion of the remote controls!

We use universal ones too. :hi:
