New Daddy Question: Why The Heck Do Baby Clothes Have SO MANY snaps?
I have a beautiful three month old baby girl. I work from home and take care of her during the week. It has been a real education. There is one thing I still do not get.

Why so many freaking snaps on baby clothes? I know diaper change access is needed but, how bout some freaking velcro? Something!

Here's my cutie. Great reason to keep fighting!

1. Because parents don't have enough stress...
...and need snaps to help put them over the edge.

2. Awwwww. I just want to kiss those cheeks....and, to answer your
question, velcro gets fuzzy with repeated washings...and I'm sure you know by now about those repeated washings!!!

Belated congratulations on a gorgeous little girl. I love her hair!

3. snaps are easier and quicker then buttons
and thats one cute baby. Snaps also hold better then velcro for oneseys and the like.

6. do what i did
use only half the snaps-you are just going to undo them in a couple of hours so why bother to snap them all? yes, velcro would be nice.

7. Snaps definitely suck!
I fought the snap battle w/ my first kid, then I wised up. First throw out all clothing with more than 4 snaps. Second, if you must snap, only do one or two,it will be fine. Third, zipper pajamas and t-shirts are the best around the house. All those snaps apparently didn't bother my wife because every piece of clothing she bought for 2 years had at least 47 snaps on it. Good luck.

8. you soon will be getting clothing w/o snaps as she grows,
just hang in there. Or get some with only 1 or 2! I remember how frustrating that is when you are really tired. :)

9. Well, velcro would be pretty uncomfortable from her
point of view.

Haven't you started just grabbing the snap at the farthest corner and pulling, thus ripping them all open at once? Baby clothes don't have industrial strength snaps. That's how I did it. Grab, pull, open. The longer leg clothing have even more snaps, but eh, it's all a part of it.

And don't worry. Soon, she'll be out of those clothes with all the snaps on the crotch and legs and she'll be rolling her eyes at you, claiming you don't understand her, flinging herself on her bed and crying.

I just made her seem even more lovely right now, didn't I? LOL

By the way, I love her cheeks. Very kissable.

10. What a cutie!
Velcro can cause chafing and doesn't hold as well as snaps (we had some velcro onesies- never again!)

That's awesome that you spend so much time with her! :D

11. Sorry for the delay in getting back. Nap time was over!
I guess Velcro just hasn't passed the stress tests. The response that said to stop snapping them all is a good suggestion . ion. I usually don't bother with them all. But that is just proof that so many are not needed...

Thanks to everyone that noted her cuteness. I certainly like her! I actually feel lucky to be home with her. Many dads do not have the option. All part of the master plan for us.
