8. Do you remember Mercerized thread? What is Mercerized thread?
Was there really a Mercer? That's all I remember from the few sewing escapades I have taken (count: 2).

11. On this our Internet, everything can be looked up...
TRANSITIVE VERB: Inflected forms: mer·cer·ized, mer·cer·iz·ing, mer·cer·iz·es
To treat (cotton thread) with sodium hydroxide so as to shrink the fiber and increase its luster and affinity for dye.
ETYMOLOGY: After John Mercer (1791–1866), British calico printer.

12. Yes, I love researching on the Internet.
What did we ever do without it? I know, we spent a lot of time in the library -- sometimes we even "necked, petted and worse" in the stacks. Those were the days.

Sodium hydroxide -- not sure I've run into that chemical. (I worked for Bristol-Myers Squibb for almost a decade.)

Thanks.

3. No, I don't feel that way at all, at all!
Most threads are fascinating! I just can't get over how damned creative the folks are in DU! I wish we could somehow put all this creativity and intelligence and activism together and do something great for our beautiful country! There is so much energy here; how could we harness it? It makes me crazy...And it doesn't take much, these days.

Pardon me; I got carried away by my overflowing rant!

5. You've never started your own thread?
Give it a try! My first few went over like a lead balloon, but I didn't let that stop me!

14. Always.
That's the only reason I start threads.
I'm trying to raise the grade point level in here.
