Microwaves vs. Stove tops
Ok, I was curious. My boyfriend lives by re-heating food via stove tops versus a microwave.
so left overs? no nuking for you! i shall stir you to a lovable heatness on the stove!

so, now it's rubbed off on me.
what does everyone else use? are microwaves the most prevalent?

5. that's how I kinda feel
microwaves seems to make food so soggy at times! but stove tops and using ones oven to reheat pizza and the like always leave stuff firm and tantalizingly tasty.

Yea we still reheat. But because of the latest news on nutrients being removed during microwaving, I'm steaming veggies on the cooktop or stir fry.

Chicken soup/stews often go into the frig in a metal pot and so go onto the stove...

Food saved in microwave save vessels get nuked...


On edit: about tastes from reheating...steam does seem to me to wash the taste out of things. but that taste change isn't just about reheating. Potatoes held too long are the same.

4. It depends on what it is.
With pasta, I just add some margarine so it isn't dry and put it in the microwave. Hot dogs taste horrible when you microwave them. I prefer those cooked on the stove. :-)

8. Actually, I don't use it that often.
Only to reheat pasta, which is about once every couple of months. :-) Maybe I should switch to butter?

10. you should!
only because there's a thousand ingredients in margarine most have never heard of, and butter is simply cream and salt. though butter is considered fattening, if you use it sparingly it's not bad, and your body can process it a ton better.

11. Everyone should do a little research on Margarine vs Butter and
sugar, fructose, Nutrasweet vs raw sugar or honey and stevia.


Don't do it while you are eating though }(

Or a clothes dryer. Or a lot of other convenient stuff.(Environmental and health reasons, combined with the price of energy here, trump convenience.)

I swear that they're linked to the C.I.A. and are part of the mind-control system. :tinfoilhat:

Seriously, I use a normal oven or stove-top where-ever normally, but if butter is hard stright out of the fridge a very few seconds in the microwave softens it enough to use.

12. I have TWO microwaves, and I use both of them constantly.
I do quite a lot of genuine cooking in them and they make a great many things possible in not too much time. As for reheating: If you are careful and use the right sort of dish to reheat, the microwave is unbeatable. I always found that I was burning stuff on the stovetop. Not so in the microwave. Cooked rice is perfect reheated in the microwave. You don't even need to add water. I reheat pasta there also, with just a little dribble of water. Fast, and easy! I would not be without my microwaves! But that's just me!

I wouldn't eat NEAR as well without it

mostly used for reheating tho . .

cooking is done on the stove or slow-cooker mostly

I can get a full meal on the table in less than 5 minutes with the microwave

leftovers are NEVER wasted

always a quick meal waiting in the fridge

As a bachelor, I would not probably bother to cook large full meals if I didn't know that I was making an extra 2 or 3 meals that are available in minutes - anytime

and nuking makes GREAT garlic bread, even with stale bread, in 20 seconds . .

scrambled eggs/omelette in 90 seconds, cook it right in the dish, no fry pan needed

Most of the time, when I wanna eat, I want it NOW

and ya can nuke it right in whatever container ya got, no pots n pans to clean

less clean-up is a big factor for me too . .

NOTHING BURNS

ya set it for whatever minutes and it shuts off

even beeps to let ya know ur food is ready . .

ain't seen a stovetop yet that'll do that . .

I'm a nuker alright .

14. Russia banned the horrid devices in the mid '70s. Also, some foods have
their nutritional value DESTROYED by the things. Broccoli is one of them.

I'd rather eat leftovers COLD.

When it comes to microwaves, I use them only for Peeps,
