What are the most important live albums that were ever released?
I guess a few:

The Who-Live at Leeds
Led Zeppelin-How The West Was Won (Yes, Personal Prejudice)
Peter Frampton-Frampton Comes Alive
Deep Purple-Made In Japan
Kiss-Alive! (Lynch me if you want to, but people consider it a landmark in live recordings.)

2. ha
ya young whippersnapper, you know your stuff. I was going to say Made In Japan and Frampton Comes Alive, but have to admit Kiss - Alive was up ther too, at least in those days. I feel really ignorant, as I am a fair fan of Zeppelin and don't know this live album!!! WTF? (although to be fair to myself I haven't listened to mainstream music sources in well over ten years.)

Marley has a good live album and so does Alman Bros. ZZ Top - one side of Fandango, IIRC.

Can't wait to see what others come up with.

7. The Zeppelin album came out in 2003.
But there was a huge buzz around it and it was awesome.

10. The Last Waltz....yes. I was there.
Only 5,000 tickets sold. It was fabulous.
Best concert I've ever been to and so very special.

15. It was electrifying.... ;)
...worth the effort to get tickets. I had to go to Oakland as I knew the crowd would be bigger in SF. First come, first served.
Scorcese didn't get that much footage of the crowd or I could point ME out to you. Incredibly I took a lot of pictures but didn't think to get myself into any of them.

I think there should be a reunion of the people who attended.
I know three others.

11. Band of Gypsies is my personal favorite
Everyone rants and raves about Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out! but I was a little disappointed with that one. Not that it was bad, it just didn't seem as firey as everyone made it out to be. Except for that version of "Love in Vain." Amazing.
