Bizarro World conversation with an insurance agent today
For reference, see this thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=2946282

The driver's local agent calls today just to make contact. He has not been able to speak with the driver yet (probably not a good sign) and he goes on to tell me that they're still investigating whether or not the driver was at fault.

Me: Um, well, this is a building. A building that has been here for 77 years. He was driving a moving vehicle. Can that really be so hard to put together? (I'm thinking it's unlikely that the store made a sudden left turn in front of his car.)

Anyway, the idiot has several DUI convictions and was driving with a suspended license. Cue merriment. :banghead:

Sorry to hear this, Building v. Multiple DUI Loser
yes, that is a tough for an insurance agent *rolls eyes* I suppose the bright side is that the driver actually had insurance. Hope things work out.

A building near me on Hennepin Avenue here in Minneapolis had a car ram into it at night. No one hurt, and thank god no one in the 2nd floor apartment.

6. Wow! You're lucky this guy HAS insurance
At that rate, he could very well have been driving around uninsured. :eyes:

Anyway, I'm glad no one got hurt.

7. He has the bare minimum coverage to license a car here
I'm sure that based on his previous DUI conviction(s), he was paying maximum prices for very little.

Our adjuster is coming to view the carnage and photos on Monday. Then I imagine lawyers will be getting involved.

It's a miracle no one was hurt or killed - he missed the restaurant by three feet. :scared:

9. You'll have to go after him personally.
No insurance company will pay if the person is driving while suspended/revoked. They don't have to and it is surely spelled out in the policy declarations. Good luck.

Woof

14. Does your state have an uninsured motorists fund?
Check it out because you may be able to recover damages through that route.

8. I once had a motorcycle wreck, hitting a deer at speed.
It took the Insurance company months to figure out they were not going to be able to talk to the "other driver". The deer, by the way, had been beheaded in the accident. It was deceased, it had ceased to be, it was an ex Bambi.
