Untill that Post-WWII-Day, nothing did happen in Germany that could be compared to the success of Haider in Austria - there are still rumours of a kind of relationship between Schwarzenegger and Haider, but Schwarzenegger denies it.

I guess, it would be nothing but ridicoulous for me as a german, to suppose that because Hitler was an Austrian, we were just "victims". Nothing could be more ridicoulous than this. But it's true: Hitler was an Austrian.
There was a kind of interview-series in a german magazine 10 years ago. People were asked, if they are proud to be Germans. One film-director replied: The few seconds every year, I remember that Hitler was an Austrian.

far western Austria which is much more conservative than Vienna. Since half the country's population lives in Vienna though, I don't know if you can say Austria s that conservative. I think there's a big difference between Vienna and the other half of the country. Pretty much like any other country. The urban areas are more liberal than the rural ones.

I was in a restaurant a few years ago, and this little girl that looked about six at the table next to us pointed at me and said "MOMMY, THAT MAN'S BALD!!" then she followed with, "but he can't help it."

I still get a laugh when I think about that. Kids are so cool that way...
