3. Cool
How did you do that?

I know the DVD ROM drives have the ability to reset them 5 times or so. Does your technique bypass this or something?

8. Multi-step process, involving:
Separated audio capture
Deinterlacing (which MUST be done before any resizing...)
Resampling video rate...

And more.

Stuff I more or less experimented with as there's nothing out there that describes what to do/how to do it.

Google the means to capture the data though. It's all there.

10. What program(s) do you use?

There's not much a person can't do with TMPGenc for converting and then use ULead Media Pro to edit and finalize ones videos.

Only site you'll ever need for do-it-yourself video.

20. Here's a pair of linkages that will blow your mind...
Medhi Ali works for the World Bank now under Paul Wolfowitz and Alexander Haig (yes the one from the Reagan/Bush I years) sat on Commodore's board of directors.

Small world eh?

Oh and don't forget that rat bastard Irving Gould. ;)

6. 5 years
Amiga 500 then 3000 model. I drooled at the 4000T but never afforded it.

UAE (or WinUAE for windows) gives me the 4000 compatibility...

7. Still have an old 500, 1200 & 4000 here in my lab..
...and fire them up from time to time for nostalgia. WinUAE is pretty nice, I'd agree, but I still like to give the three finger, reboot salute from time to time.

17. Warms my heart to hear of other silicon Amigas still in service.
Amazing as it seems, the comp.sys.amiga groups on Usenet are still pretty active. The Amiga is aptly named, she's an old flame you never let go of or forget your first time with ;)

15. Is that videotape only or DVDs as well?
I know that there are region-free DVD players, but I'm not so sure about whether they convert from PAL to NTSC.

I could go to Japan and buy DVDs there and easily play them on a region-free DVD player, because Japan uses NTSC.

But if I went to Europe and bought DVDs, there'd have to be an additional conversion from PAL to NTSC, right?

18. DVD only... and
I haven't a PAL VHS deck to digitize with, though my digitizer CAN take both formats. (Pinnacle DV500+)

Yes. Unless you have a region-free and multi-format player (chances are both would be in the same unit), the discs/tapes from Europe would have to be converted first. Besides, most multi-format players play PAL discs at 23FPS on NTSC TV sets. Yuck. Converting/upsampling to 30FPS is nicer. :D

And France uses SECAM as well, their own little standard... :-(

19. Feel free to PM!
While I won't say some things because of the DMCA, the same info can be readily found on the net. But I'll answer most Q's without hesitation, if not create my own FAQ page...
