My ears are bleeding.
My child is practicing the recorder. Apparently it's some kind of funky jazz piece she is making up on the fly. Then there's the tortuous "Hot Cross Buns" which apparently must be played (but only partially!) 672 times in a row.

My ears, my ears.

1. Plastic tool of Satan!
I remember having to play "Hot Cross Buns." I remember thinking, "Gee, do I suck or is the recorder simply a hunk of crap?"

2. Both?

Is it possible to play well on the recorder?

On a side note, I made up a little anti-bush ditty on her junior sized acoustic guitar the other day. It was fun.

7. kids at my son's school play songs on the recorder
at the music and art festival. We're one of those "recorder-playing" schools. And it actually sounds pretty good.

4. My kid was doing that
last term. He kept on practising a Christmas carol well into January. I kept on telling him he could do the intro to "Stairway to Heaven." He kept on saying, "No Stairway, mommie," a la Wayne's World. Was really silly but totally exasperating.

5. Wow...no more "Go tell Aunt Rhodie the Old Gray Goose it Dead"?
We played this adnauseum when I was a nine year old.

It could be worse, my daughter tells me for her it was "Good Christian Men Rejoice". Damn. I should have sent her down to Pinellas with her recorder. ;)

She's still on "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."

I'm homicidal.
