Now over two years unemployed in crazy red f*cking JOklahoma. Not a good place for a professional woman with traditionally conservative education and work experience.

Edit to add congrats and best wished on the upcoming bar exam.

9. do you know where yours is?
when I saw this, I had to think -- where IS mine ... i'm still not sure, but I THINK it's in a stack of pictures in storage. :)

17. Yes!
It is matted and framed and wrapped in bubble wrap standing on edge in the garage. Four diplomas and all the other stuff that hung in my last office including various cancelled securities certificates, some monopoly collectibles, and some artwork.

18. LOL
I just found mine again a few months ago. It was still in the huge cardboard envelope that it came in when I picked it up at the registrar's office (they misspelled my name the first time so I had to get a replacement!).

I rolled it up and put in the tube along with my husband's law school diploma and our other diplomas (undergrad, teaching certificates, etc).

29. Sounds about right ..
well... i DID frame mine and DID have it hanging for a while. And then I realized that FOR ME PERSONALLY .. i'd much rather have paintings and family photos on the wall than papers .. so I took them all down 8 years ago. I've moved offices within our firm at LEAST 10 times since, and so have moved the diplomas and old paintings to storage.

15. Not until I have passed the bar!
Graduation is May 28th, at which time I will be a LAWYER; I won't be an ATTORNEY and permitted to practice law until I pass the bar. So, you have several months to wait yet!

22. Dallas, Texas
We already have a house in Irving in which my husband is living - he started a job at Southwestern Medical Center in August, and I did 3L here without him, which was tough, I tell you!

27. I couldn't ~even~ imagine finishing up without my best friend
My old roommate was always there giving me support while I was in law school. There were times when I just wanted to throw my hands up (mostly due to my Conflicts of Law class) that last year. My hat is off to you! I'm glad to hear you will be reunited with your husband soon enough.

What area of practice do you think you'll end up doing?

One of my old boyfriends lived in Los Colinas near Irving. I used to visit him from time to time. There are a lot of great places to see there. I've got a brother down in the Plano area. He used to work in downtown Dallas. So, there are sane people in Texas - as long as you don't count my brother and my ex :P

Oh yeah, welcome to Big Twelve country! You're in for a different way of life. But I'm sure you already knew that.

28. We live in Valley Ranch (near Las Colinas)
I'm from Kansas, so I'm actually returning to Big 12 country! I've only lived in PA for 5 years.

I agree about Conflicts - I was thrilled with my B on the take-home exam!

32. I'm still in Kansas
Edited on Thu Mar-31-05 10:44 PM by Mabus
Welcome back (when you get here)!

My ex used to live on MacArthur right off the highway. I used to drive in on I-35 and the stadium was key part of knowing if I was going the right way. He's moved back to Kansas too, but a different part of the state. He'll always be a farm boy from Reno County.

My brother just moved back to the Dallas area from Flower Mound. He and his Republican wife finally called it quits. It was one of those divorces where everyone has ended up happy. I can call him and I don't have to hear her bitching about Clinton or praising Dumbya in the background. The worst part about it was that she was a really lovely apolitcal woman until they moved to Dallas and close to her family. Then she became a Libby Dole wannabe - it was the hair, the make-up and then she developed a thick Texas drawl that sounded as fake as her nails. Everytime I heard of a murder in the Dallas area I feared my brother had finally had enough. Then again, I also joked that he should take her hunting.

Oh well, if you ever head north let me know. I'm in Lawrence and I love living in Kansas.

I'm interested in family law, elder law, immigration law, criminal law and wills, trusts and guardianships. No job yet - not really looking until after the bar. We'll see what happens.

Much better, thanks.

Had my checkup yesterday.

Nothing like looking at GRAPHIC pictures of a disgusting, bloated, ballooned-up, hemorhagging ovary to give you a little sense of perspective in the larger scheme of things (and ruin your apetite for dinner!) :hi:

I remember having "mittelschmerz" as a teenager - I thought the pain would kill me! Turned out to be nothing. I imagine your pain must have been quite excruciating.
