What are the sights to see in Cleveland?
I'm going to the FOOCUS conference next week, 4/6-4/9 for Sleep & Respiratory Medicine and was wondering about things to see there. We're going to the Rock & Roll HOF as part of the meeting but may have time to do a few other things there.

1. The Great Lakes Science Center is really cool too.
And go to the Great Lakes brewery for some really good microbrew.

11. The Flats are dead.

A couple years ago there were beatings, knifings, drownings, it was a wretched mess. Nobody goes there anymore.

The jumpin' nightlife-y stuff is up the hill from there in the Warehouse District now.

edit: spelling

8. Cleveland has one of the finest art museums in the world. Don't miss it.
Its Museum of Natural History is topnotch, too.

The flats should be hopping now that it's springtime....great for pubbing.

You'll be very pleasantly surprised by Cleveland.

12. I concur. The Cleveland Museum of Art is top-notch.
You know, I've lived here almost five years now, and I still don't know all the tourist hotspots...

24. I grew up in Seven Hills. Lived there for 24 years.
Always had a blast when I'd return for visits.

I wish I could be there this weekend for the Cinema Wasteland Horror Convention.

19. As others have said
the Art Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art are both top-shelf. The Science Center next door to the RRHOF is very cool and has an OmniMax. There's a strong theater district in the eastern part of downtown, and pretty boomin' nightclubs in the Warehouse and Gateway districts (if you missed my post above I'll reiterate: I wonder if the people who suggested the Flats haven't been here in a couple of years - it's tumbleweeds down there due to some rather extreme ugliness that transpired).

Hope you enjoy your stay. If you're looking for any specific events for specific nights, the Free Times is ubiquitous and has pretty comprehensive listings.

21. House of Blues just opened up
You could stop by there and get something to eat.
Yes, the Art Museum is pretty good here.
The Great Lakes Brewery is always a good place to go.
It's a little too early in the year for any of the outdoor festivities they usually have here. In the summer there is a lot to do.

I would meet up with you somewhere, but I don't know what is going on that weekend. I might have to do some work.

22. The Gateway District
That's the area around Jakobs Field consisting of clubs and resturaunts like:

Alice Cooper's "Coopertown" on E9th (Great burgers and R&R memborabilia)

Wilberts: Next to "The Jake" the BEST blues/roots rock club in town. Friday night see Webb Wilder there (It's the Nashville Rockabilly value of the weekend)

Hard Rock Cafe: On the south side of Jakobs Field (Well, It's a HRC just like the others)

The Galleria: Not a club, but a beautiful glass clad downtown shopping mall. (Hard to miss right on E9th)

From the "Jake" it's a short walk (stagger) to at least a dozen lesser known trendy clubs as:
Fat Fish Blue
Paninis
The Winking Lizard

No need for directions to any of these places... Just take a cab to Jakobs Field, get out and take a look around. (Grab a free copy of "The scene" magazine for particulars and addys, they're available everywhere)

Anyway, that's the "drinking tour" of Cleve. I wouldn't know any other way.
