Just a damn shame the way we treat people.
A client came to the center today with an electrical cord for a belt. So I gave him an old one of mine. I also have hit up the clothes closet for some socks, undies and a few t-shirts. The one he had on was brown

the wealthiest nation on earth and that is acceptable?

:grr:

1. That's what makes Amurika great
Not that we're much better in England to be honest.

It's just to easy for most to be like Queen Victoria in her train and pull the blinds down in passing the slums.

3. Well you can take heart that we won't always be....
...the wealthiest nation on earth, given our current path. The next one will be China. Then we will be a past superpower just like England is now.

I hear you about how people are treated. I am thankful there are compassionate people like you in the world.

5. I still can't get over seeing so many homeless people in this country.
Like you said...this is the wealthiest nation on the planet. And yet, every morning on the way to work I'll see people sleeping in doorways on the street.

It's just...obscene.

11. I posted this in the other thread...
Yes, we're the wealthiest nation on earth... but it's the greedy bastards that have most of the extra cash.

15. if only the greedy bastards felt a fraction of the guilt I feel
Much to my shock when I take polls which ask my combined household income I always mark the appropriate button while muttering, "mother of god, that can't be right." But it is. And I am ashamed. I'm ashamed because I make a very good living and STILL don't share enough of it with people who have greater needs than mine.

13. Things are bad everywhere
Here in Dublin we have a lot of teenage/twenty-something homeless
people these days. When I was growing up that was NEVER the case.
I think the fabric of society is coming apart :(
