Hello and thank you to all you kind souls brave enough to give me your email address at rachelmaddow.com --

First and foremost , I hereby promise to never give your email address to anyone for any commercial, nefarious, do-gooder, or any other purpose. Thanks for your trust.

Second and therefore secondmost , I hereby make good on my promise to tell y'all my plans before announcing them on Air America Radio Thursday, March 31st:

Working title?
The Rachel Maddow Show (original, no?)

Time Slot?
5AM-6AM (Eastern Time) Monday through Friday

Really?
Yes, really. Great ratings time, actually, thanks for asking. Many local markets will likely air the show both live and later on tape-delay.

Remit?
The front page, Rachel style. The most important, attitudinal, well-informed, edgiest news hour you've ever heard in your life. The kick-start you need in the morning to stay informed, win at the water cooler and annoy your Republican relatives.

Launch date?
Soon. Either April 11th or April 18th, depending on how planets align.

Any other details?
The show's website is going to be an extension of the newsmachine that is my tiny little mind, and it will continue to provide a spot for y'all to meet and chew the fat. The site should launch shortly before the on-air debut of the show, and will probably include at least one ridiculous photo of me trying to look like a grown-up.

Rachelmaddow.com will become more of a home-away-from-my-AAR/TRMS-home; a place for other interests, activities and events. And another channel for us to stay in touch.

Third and therefore hindmost, but by no means leastmost:

WHEREAS I'm grateful to Air America Radio for giving me this gig;

WHEREAS I'm grateful to the wonderful listeners, the fans who blogged and emailed and called and faxed and wrote and sent flowers and beer and drawings and CDs and criticism and enthusiasm;

WHEREAS I'm grateful to the long-suffering, tolerant, charmingly cynical, snarky but nevertheless beautiful AAR staff who worked on Unfiltered;

WHEREAS I'm grateful to the Zen master, the simmering storm, the righteous Mr. Chuck D;

WHEREAS I'm grateful in particular to the outstanding woman who not only drove Unfiltered with me, but who made AAR a possibility for me in the first place, the lovely and ferociously talented Ms. Lizz Winstead;

WHEREAS I'm grateful to my family and my sweetheart for their support and forbearance during a difficult hard-working year full of difficult hard-working transitions;

I, RACHEL MADDOW, who thinks and writes as if I am a City Council, hereby offer my Thanks with a capital T - again, and beyond all measure.
