Inquiring minds want to know -- actually, several of us are disagreeing on this important topic and we need your input --

12. I didn't want to tell you at the top, but I'm an "under" --
Edited on Thu Mar-31-05 01:20 AM by Radio_Lady
Here is my reasoning:

1. I never buy toilet paper with printing on it -- maybe quilting, but who cares about that?

2. Under placement helps gravity feed the paper down where you can see it and grab it. (Over is for hotels that make that nice little point -- cute! That works for about one tear and then you're scratching in the dark of night at the top of the roll for the end.

That's the way I see it and I'm resolute -- been doing this for more years than I can count.

Ok, let's not fight about this. Your roll is on the top of the tank or BYOTP (bring your own toilet paper) when you come to my house and use it any way you want.

You can lock this thread for all I care!

13. I have a friend from a big family who said
his mom always put it on "under" and she squished the roll so it wasn't quite round. That way the kids had to work harder to get the paper off and didn't use so much. That's frugal! :D

I always put it on "over" except when I had cats. The cats would get going on the roll with their paws and run the whole thing off in a pile on the floor. They could never figure out how to do it if I put it on "under".

Don't we allow for a divergence of opinion? I draw the line at changing people's toilet rolls indiscriminately and without -- a roll call!

24. If you have a 3yr old in the house, it goes under,
I found this out the hard way. Over means the whole roll getting flushed, with the little shit laughing as they pull the lever, and the swirling water unwinding the roll while you are trying to feed that little shits baby brother.

26. What about a six-month old golden retriever puppy?
When my fella was little, he got up one night and was making some sort of noises, but I went back to sleep.

Next morning, I found he had managed to take the end of the roll of toilet paper, run with it and drag it out to the hall. So, the bathroom was festooned with a long strip of toilet paper.

Reminded me of high school days when we papered trees.

I can't remember the brand. A puppy unrolled a complete toilet paper roll out of the house and onto the lawn.

The idea was to show how much more paper there was on this particular brand's core.

39. I support "over"
just 'cause it always seemed slightly easier to remove it that way. But I can deal with either; if I change the roll and realize I've put it on "under" I'll go through the whole roll that way rather than turn it around. So it's either not that big a deal to me or I'm just lazy!

facing perpendicular to the ground. This allows the wiper to hold the tube and use the dominant hand to select the exact amount of paper desired for the wipe

47. We always have a disagreement. It depends on how you were taught.
My way is not the most popular, but the most efficient. The roll goes under, not over, making it must easier to pull off. If you pull it from over, it just goes on and on. That's all.

Goodman: Child welfare, ma'am.
Agent 2: Here's a little bedtime reading.
Marge: Mmm! "Squalid hellhole"? "Toilet paper hung in improper overhand fashion"? "Dogs mating on dining room table"?

Ever since then, I've hung toiletpaper underhand. Much more pleasant to work with.
