1. I heard it. It gave me chills.
But I changed the channel before the whole story was told. Scarbrough said it could have been prevented. What did he mean by that?

4. The dead parents had requested a court order.
I don't think it would have made the difference.

5. They had asked for a restraining order against the guy that killed them.
He thought they had turned him in for growing pot or something like that so he threated to get them - and he did.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — A 5-year-old girl called 911 on Monday after waking to gunshots and finding her dead mother and dying father in bed.

Police say a gunman seeking revenge for drug charges snuck into the family's Florida home and opened fire; he then killed himself in his home later that day.

The child, Tia Hernlen, described the traumatic scene to the operator: “My mommy and daddy … I think there is a bullet on the floor... and there is blood coming out of my dad's mouth and he fell off the bed.”

-snip
Authorities said David Edward Johnson (search) targeted the couple after being arrested for possession of marijuana and steroids; he thought the couple had turned him in.
The couple apparently feared the suspect and tried to get a court-ordered injunction to keep him away from their family. However, a judge denied the request on account that there was not enough evidence to support the stalking charge.

The audio tape goes on for around 5 minutes so they play quite a bit of it but not all.

9. More messed up shit in Florida...
no offense to Florida DUers...I lived in the state for about 7 years, but seriously does the over exposure to the sunlight make people go crazy down there?!?

10. Yes, he was referring to a restraining order they tried to get. Like a
piece of paper would stop a madman with a gun.
HE doesn't have any respect for court decisions (reference Terri Schiavo's case if you doubt me) so why should any OTHER murderer?
Just because a COURT said something doesn't mean it should be followed or anything...

11. Unfortunatly, the Judge, by upholding the law,
is now the bad guy. Fox villagers are already arming themselves with nooses and pitchforks as we speak.

12. Kudos to the operator
For keeping the little girl calm and brave in spite of the very traumatic episode she experienced, until help arrived. I read the transcript but I don't want to hear the tape.
