How much do you pay for green bell peppers?
Edited on Thu Mar-31-05 12:24 AM by Nevernose
Prices used to be cheap here (Las Vegas), but I'm now paying a dollar a piece for bell peppers. Is this indicative of the food prices everywhere, or is it just here?

Edit:
Green bell peppers used to be cheaper to buy than they were to grow, that is, by the time I added in water, fertilizer, and time costs, I could buy them cheaper than it cost me to grow them. What happened? How and when exactly did the bottom fall out of the bell pepper market?

2. I paid .99 per
today, but it's seasonal. They should be cheaper in the summer.

Produce varies more widely in price than most other grocery items it seems to me.

4. Maybe I should rephrase the question:
green bell peppers used to be cheaper to buy than they were to grow, that is, b uy the time I added in water, fertilizer, and time costs, I could buy them cheaper than it cost me to grow them. What happened? How and when exactly did the bottom fall out of the bell pepper market?

5. $1.89/lb Do you have a Trader Joe's in your area? They have frozen
peppers that are pre-sliced and much cheaper per pound. They're great in Fajitas, soups, and stir frys.
