You know those candy bars you used to sell as a kid for fund raisers?
The ones that ALWAYS sold for a dollar, even back in the late 1970s (and probably before then too).

They're made by a company called "World's finest chocolate" but it really wasn't.

But they always came with some Pizza Hut coupon on the wrapper, something like a dollar off a pizza, so if you were the kid that got suckered into selling them, you could aways point that out to the people who were hesitant on buying one.

Well today, I'm walking out of Pet Supermarket with my dog, who had just pissed on a cat's cage, and this young girl approaches me asking me if I wanted to buy one of those candy bars.

So I bought one, amazed that they were STILL a dollar. And amazed even more that the Pizza Hut coupon is now for TWO dollars off my next large specialty pizza (available only at participating locations. One coupon per order).

But it almost seems as if the candy bar is half the size it used to be.

1. We have a surplus grocery store here that always have them for sale
Usually its either Hershey's or Nestle brand bars (Reeses, Crackels, Kit Kats, etc) they sell them 3 for a dollar. Though no Pizza Hut coupons usually its Subway and its a buck off a 12 inch sub.

2. Such are the time...
It's like that pound of coffee you used to buy that's now 12 oz.

I remember the first time my brother sold those for school he ate half a box and my parents had to pay for them. That may be why you see more of the kids peddling wrapping paper and candles these days. :)

4. You're right, it's not the world's finest chocolate.
First of all, if it was, it would be dark chocolate.

5. My mom's a sucker for any kid selling anything
If they catch her at home, she'll buy it. Wrapping paper, candy, coupon book, raffle tickets, she'll always buy, and not just one, usually two (except the coupon books, sometimes those are $5 or $10).

When I was little the kids would come with that chocolate, I always liked them, but then I'm a sucker for the crispy chocolate.
