Sooo...West Wing...(spoilers, most probably)
Edited on Wed Mar-30-05 10:13 PM by deadparrot
Whatja think?

I don't know, I wasn't particularly impressed. Just kind of "meh."

After that promo at the end, if there was any question as to who the Democratic nominee was going to be...well, there's not anymore.

There'd better be some sort of decent surprise/cliffhanger.

1. I Was wondering if there was going to be
a two-party ticket, but not after tonight. Russell creeps me out, but I wonder how the party gets around his delegate totals? I hope I am more inspired next week.

3. Was disappointed in Leo
Edited on Wed Mar-30-05 10:17 PM by Dave Sund
For months saying Russell wasn't the guy, and now telling Josh to let Russell win.

I think Josh is going to try and strike a deal with Hoynes.

16. I agree. Santos will go to Hoynes
I've always liked the character of John Hoynes and I hope it shakes out that way.

Hoynes has a very interesting backstory and ties to Josh that could be fun to watch play out.

And anything that keeps Tim Matheson on the show is fine by me.

I've even got the campaign slogan...

"Santos/Hoynes 04 - We're both hotties!"

4. Hawkeye as President
I love the idea. A relatively liberal republican in the white house, pissing off the fascist right. It would be great for the next three years. And I must return to the premise, Hawkeye, a liberal Korean War Veteran as President - some sick motherfucker in Hollywood is cooking. Vinnick for President.

5. I've grown to that idea too
I love Santos, but I'm not as inspired with him as I am with Vinick. Vinick has so far had the best speeches and monologues. I have a feeling that Wells has made up his mind on who it's going to be and if it's vinick, I could certianly live with that.

6. It's gonna be Santos
I saw Teri Polo on Conan a few weeks ago...she strongly hinted she would be on West Wing permanently next year...as first lady.

I suppose she could have been trying a little disinformation...but I doubt it.

8. Considering Alda is older than Sheen,
Edited on Wed Mar-30-05 10:27 PM by deadparrot
I'd think that the producers are trying to bring in a younger audience with a younger president. Plus, they would bring in the old cast from time to time.

I don't think we can lose next year, though. They're both pretty cool candidates. If only we lived in a country smart enough to nominate two people who are that liberal. ;)

10. How bout the Hawkeye Audience?
Alda telling the producers make me the President. Have Josh come work for me. Sam Seaborne reappears to save someone's day. Piss off the religiously insane by having a republican president who chooses not to suck falwell cock. Have Donnatella Moss involved in a graphic and extremely long lesbian scene in the OVAL office, - Oh pardon me ...

Like I said, it's just a theory.

No doubt having Alda pissing off the fundies would be awesome (I probably like him more that Santos, based on personality), but after reading this article, I kind of doubt it. :(

"Putting on my best Tim Russert imitation, I'm predicting Arnold Vinick won't be elected.

Actually, the votes - or the vote - already has been tabulated.

"I'm really not interested in doing a regular weekly series again," the 68-year-old actor said.

"And besides, they'd have to fire a bunch of Democrats who have contracts on the show. I don't think they'll do that," the congenial Alda added, referring to the series' numerous co-stars who are part of the Bartlet administration."

11. Holdover cast possibility:
If Alison Janney gets canned by the current administration for leaking the news about the secret shuttle, she could go to work for the Santos campaign and then serve in his Admin.

18. Of course she leaked it
By the way, TV Guide reported that while NBC renewed the series for next year, it told the producer to cut production cost by half, that means getting rid of many characters who command high salary.

Having a new administration will allow this.

7. That whole "Secret" space shuttle thing was stupid though
First the Castro thing and now this...seems like they are trying to come up with ever more implausible story lines...the sign of a show that has run out of ideas.

21. put a blindfold on that Russian cosmonaut ...
.... and feed him all kinds of bogus hints about the capabilities of the US military shuttle. That's what I'd do. That way, you get the good press about saving the life of a former enemy ... and you can spread some disinformation about your assets. (Heck, if the astronauts are already dropping hints to family members out of sibling rivalry, it's not that much of a secret!)

9. Ok, here is how it's gonna turn out...
The Democrats nominate the current VP as Pres and Santos as VP.

Next season starts with the campaign. Someone finds out that Alan Alda worships Satan or something like that. The Democrats win.

The new president gets hit by a Mack truck and Santos is in the chair, he's "the man."

He dumps his wife and shacks up with chick from NYPD. We see his butt again.

All is well in the Republic.

15. You Raider fans continue to be fucked up

You will see his ass.

Bartlett and his gang will "infiltrate." To ensure the survival of the democratic party, CJ and Leo (the most awesome motherfucker on TV) will make sure Vinnick is elected President. Vinnick's presidency will coincide with the destruction of the gop while giving hawkeye one last stand in the spotlight. There will be gratuitous shots of Santo' ass and Donnatella Moss' lesbian gaggle in the oval office (a little fantasy of mine) - the lesbian stuff, not santo's ass. Meanwhile raidernation will continue to rely on aid from third world countries. Tsunami victims will generate fund drives for those in raider nation.

I'm always defending Red starters (since I'm in one) and have a minor rep for doing that. Here you come with you "Declaration" against RaiderNation. I do like the "lesbian gaggle" and the idea that the show would depict the implosion of the Republican party. Vinnick (Alda) is the way they'll go if Alda will do the show. He'd be great.

Now for your dissing RaiderNation -- we're lulling the rest of you (oops, Mississippi doesn't have a pro team -- in the NFL, if you know what I mean) into a persistent vegetative state. We're back to the cast off strategy -- gives us your steroid abusers, head cases, and slackers. We've got Moss and Sap, Collins is on the wagon and the rest of the crew will sober up by July. Watch out, we're coming to get everybody.

20. Interesting
IMO, the Bartlet/Whitehouse staff plot is the weaker part of the show.

The "campaign machinations" story arc has been the best thing about this season.

Much like Bartlet himself, the old stories/characters are tired now. I'm not saying that "The West Wing: The Next Generation" won't suck, but they do need to move things on.
