I need a password reset device for windows but don't have a floppy drive.

just reinstall the OS over your current installation, and reset the Administrator's password when prompted.

3. You could get a cheap USB floppy drive

Or if you have a CD-R, you can change the settings in your BIOS to include your CD drive as a boot drive and use a CD instead of a floppy.

4. So the password reset can be any medium as long as it is drive A?

5. It won't necessarily be "A:" but, yeah

Including your CD drive in the bootup list means the computer will check to see if there's a bootable CD in there, just like it checks the floppy. If you make a bootable CD, it should work--although I've never done it personally.
