DUers, I need your help! Should I take Chemistry or AP Biology?
I haven't sent a donation in yet so I can't start a poll, so I'll do it this way.

Ok, I took Biology this year and did well in it. I'm just not sure whether or not to expand on it by taking AP Bio, or try something new with Chemistry. Also, I have a load of difficult classes next year, so I'm not sure if AP Bio would thicken the load of work and Chem lessen it. But I would think AP Bio would look better for colleges.

Help get me out of this pickle! Thank you!

1. AP Bio
(ok, so I'm a bio major and am biased- sue me)
Biology REALLY helps you see how everything in this world works- and if you're going to college, having AP Bio on your transcript REALLY helps.

2. If you aren't already interested in chem...
...there may be no reason for you to take it. Unless you're planning on a pre-med, physical science or engineering major, you might do well to avoid the arithmetic and stick with the science you (apparently) like. And this is a former chem teacher talking here.

Most colleges have some sort of science requirement, which you could easily blow away with a couple of semesters of biology (having taken two flavors of it in high school).

4. Do you like Math?
If youre not a big math fan go with AP Bio, and I personally would think that AP Bio would be more interesting. I dont know, in my school, you have to have chem to graduate, which means basically I have to work my ass off now, and AP Bio as an elective that takes up two spaces and seniors mostly take it. Chem can be great if taught by the right teacher, I look forward to going to Chem every day because I enjoy the way it is taught and I get some good socialization in too. Anyhow, yes AP Bio would look great on your transcripts.

5. Hard to say.
The AP Bio would be good--did it myself a very long time ago--and if you test well it might save you from having to take 1st year bio in college. It will add significantly to your workload.

I did, however, deeply regret never taking chem in high school--studied it at the u level and it was a serious shock to my system. Chem (unless you are a freaky chem genius) will not ease your workload.

12. I'm strapped for cash
I had to use my birthday money to buy a new computer cause my seven year old one died on me. But I will as soon as I can. I'm hoping one of my mom's friend's kids needs tutoring...:)

Ok, here's my basic schedule for next year:

-Wind Ensemble

-Math Analysis (Honors)
-Latin II
-(insert science here)
-English II Acc.
-AP European History

Which course would fit in best given these circumstances?

10. Wow...seeing those courses listed brings back painful memories
and i was just in high school last year!!! God I hated Math Analysis or (pre-calc). You have Latin? That's way cool, I wished they offered it at my old high school. AP European History is a GREAT class...you will definitely enjoy it.

But you should take AP Bio. I took both and man did AP Chem suck. Good luck with all your classes, you're in for a lot of work.

11. Well, I think I'll take AP Bio
Thanks for helping me, y'all! All I know is that it'll be tough during marching band season, which doesn't last that long anyways. And I'll just budget more time for it all.
