5. not just any dirt... we had LOAM!!!
even our poor relations (with whom we associated very little) had clay. I don't believe we ever knew anyone who had only rocks. Obviously, you were lazy.

"rub some mud in it" was my HS football coach's remedy for anything short of compound fractures.

7. I remember when dirt was introduced
It was herald as a miracle substance. A little dirt, a little water and anyone could grow food. The Re-pugs fought it tooth and nail.
