yesterday this SUV kept honking the horn at my car...then it
passed us but stayed at a slower than normal for Texas rate of speed in the lane to the right of us...we caught up with it and I realized the driver was flashing me a HUGE thumbs up ...so I returned it ..then saw her bumper sticker:

DIXIE CHICKS FOR PRESIDENT!

Well, there I was with my John Kerry, Kerry/Edwards, Nancy Stevens and Democratic Underground.com bumper stickers.

So it was a burgundy SUV on Loop 820 in North Fort Worth.

Nice to meetcha!!!!

1. Does anyone else get a surge of disgust . . .
. . . when you see one of those oval "W" stickers on someone's car?

I do.

2. Living in Texas
I see them daily. Why are they always on SUV's? Never see one of those on a non-gas hogging vehicle!

3. I always wonder whether they will ever be ashamed of
themselves for adding and abetting the coup d'etat.

4. Yes. Yuck, yuck, yuck.
They are sometimes accompanied by a Bush/Cheney sticker, and almost always accompanied by a magnetic ribbon of some sort (usually yellow, red white and blue, or camouflage).

6. I dunno -
I think that "W" stands for Wanker. Maybe it is better that these Wankers label themselves so we can tell who they are from a looong way off. All the better to avoid them. Personally, I love hearing them bitch about the price of gasoline as they lay out another $80 or so to fill up their Wanker-mobiles.

10. At my school, the Young Democrats sell T-Shirts:

"W is for Wanksta"

(I'm actually wearing it backward for the picture.)

8. Keep a small roll of red tape in your pocket or purse!
Then you can decorate any car you pass in a parking lot with a big red X or a slash across the W....

11. in Texas? Lemme tell ya, some of the bestest Dems I know
still drive some sort of SUV. Granted this was a smaller one..not a Chevy Subdivision, or Ford huge whatever. She probably bought it used for hauling stuff. Anything which can be converted into a flat bed for hauling is very popular in Texas.

More like an older Jeep with front seat, back seat and a small hatch area.

what is this snow you speak of?

hey, I was right glad to meet her!!! Dixie Chicks for President, gotta love it.

I HATE the W stickers, the black ones and the white ones, and yes a roll of electrical tape in my car has crossed my mind from time to time!!!

13. Just kidding -- my other half has an SUV, claims he needs it for when
we have lots of snow and he has to get to work. My buddies in Houston will love your story! Sometimes they feel so alone.

14. How are they "bestest Dems" if they own an SUV?
Again, I don't get it. Why don't people just make two trips for the once a year that they need a larger vehicle?

16. no seriously people in Texas like to haul stuff around
groceries, soccer gear, gym bags, horse food, cat food, dog food,
stuff from the hardware store, stuff from the garden center, and for some reason they like the utility style vehicles. I wanted a Hyundai SantaFe so bad I could taste it but it was out of my price range.

There is some thought that they are safer but I don't know if it is really true or not.

The type this person drove would not be your typical gas hog either.

Not especially larger than my Sebring. Basically a 5 passenger vehicle, with the flatbed capability, and taller than a standard car. Actually I think the think women really like about them is the higher point of view; really helps in maneuvering in our traffic.

I miss my flatbed from my old Datsun station wagon more than I can say.

Two trips is not the answer when you are hauling a sheet of plywood, or something else of size or shape that won't fit in a car and you don't really want to have a pickup truck.

Now mind you I am not repeat NOT defending the over kill of anything huge or of the gallons per mile type of gas usage
