What quirks of your parents do you find yourself having?
Especially as one gets older...

I find myself doing stuff that my kids look at me like :silly:...then when I think "Why AM I doing this?" I recall it's silly stuff I've picked up from my folks. For example:

My mom eats her dinner taking alternating bites...until she has exactly one bite left of each portion. My dad, who is very much of a kitchen dictator, washes the sink after the dishes are done. (Ok, this one might be *normal* to a lot of people, but as a kid I always thought it so odd..."Ummm, wasn't there just hot soapy water in there?" :wtf:

:D

2. Only one.. I have my Dad's engineering mind
Other than that I'm the exact opposite in almost every way. Even they wonder if I was adopted.

3. I always say my name and my hometown when I meet someone
just like my dad usta do; "Gus (last name), Green Bay Wisconsin" only I use a different name and hometown, but it sounds just like him doing it.

I swear its preternatural, like automatic and maybe genetic. Mostly a creepy echo.

11. Nearly forgot,
I've become a multi-tasker, and require good blues music to get down while washing dishes.

6. Those are quirks?
I thought we were supposed to be Not Like Other People because it makes us better than Them. You mean it doesn't?

Hmm.

8. I know this is supposed to be funny...
...but I'm really going through a tough time trying to separate myself from my Mother. It's my deepest fear that I will turn into her.

9. I tap my thumbs on the steering wheel in time to the music I'm
listening to, and I look down and see my mother's hands.

When I'm particularly engrossed in a mental task, I sort of twitch and shift in a way that is (I was told) exactly like my grandfather used to do when he was engaged in a mental task.

My daughter told me the other day she can hear me chewing (with my mouth closed, of course). I was always bugged by the fact that I could hear my mother chewing. It was bugging her. Deja vu.

My husband says when I'm sleeping, I look exactly like my dad (I look most like him anyway). I don't know why he is particularly struck by it when I'm sleeping, as I can't recall a time he saw my father sleep, but there ya go.

My dad never could stay mad at anyone for very long, even with good reason, and I'm the same way. And it pisses both of us off, LOL!

I sometimes talk people's asses off. That would come from both sides, as I was genetically DOOMED for that (one reason my mother used to say she and my dad divorced was that "motor mouth youngest children should never marry, no one can get a word in edgewise or get enough attention").

When I'm very angry, I am stunned at how much I sound like my mother. It's kind of frightening, actually.

My voice has the same quality as my mom's.

I'm a picky eater like my mother, but I take eat each thing (entree)completely and separately like my dad.

10. My Mother listened to talk radio, and it drove me NUTS as a kid

Now I listen to Air America all the time and think it's the greatest thing.

In the 80s my mother was glued to the Iran-Contra hearings on TV, and I didn't get it. Now I watch C-SPAN.

I'm turning into my Mom!
