Poll question: Have you ever been in Iowa?
I lived in Iowa for a lions' share of my life, I currently live in Arizona. Iowa gets dissed quite a bit. Answer this question, please.

1. Never been there.
When I retire my goal is to drive to all the states. Except Hawaii

5. I just got back from a business trip to Iowa a few weeks ago
It is truly Christina's World except that the farm houses are where you find the trees.

6. Many times.

Some of the most beautiful country in the world can be found in northeast Iowa, where some of my family live and my uncle is buried.

7. Once
I spent the night in Des Moines, a stop on a cross-country roadtrip. My girlfriends and I had a BLAST that night, and met tons of fun people, including some hot dudes. :)

8. I've been there a few times...
A couple times through Des Moines and another couple times through Council Bluffs.

It seems like an allright place. Like North Dakota with a little culture.

9. I lived in Phoenix for a couple years, then moved back.
I prefer a change in season, and life in a small town. Its much easier than trying to remember to lock everything all the time!!!

11. I lived there for five years
and one of my kids was born there. I loved Iowa City and if I had a reason to move back to Iowa, I'd do it!

12. When I was a kid we used to take these long driving vacations
from Chicago out to the Rocky Mountains. Iowa was one of the states we were supposed to sleep through.

One time I overheard my parents talking about stopping when we get to see the rabbits. "When are we going to see the rabbits", I asked?

It was "Cedar Rapids"!

13. I've been through Iowa several times on the way to other places, and
my parents used to have friends who lived there.

The last time I was there was before the caucus to canvas for Kucinich.

14. The one problem with the state
is that many people only see what's along I-35 or I-80 on their way to somewhere else. Those two interstates are probably the worst advertisement for Iowa we have; godawful boring sameness and quite flat in places. A sea of green is cool for awhile, and some may appreciate the relative tranquility of the farm scenes as they rush through the state. But to see what Iowa has to offer you've got to get off the beaten path. You've got to see places like Decorah, Postville, Elkader and Marquette. Totally different world.

16. One of the best educational systems in the country.
Used to have the highest literacy rate in the country. I don't know if they still do.

I grew up in Carlisle, about 30 miles outside of Des Moines. The only reason anyone would know that is because that's where "the septuplets" are from, or as the folks in Carlisle call them, "the kids that got us on TV."

"I lived in Iowa for years until I realized we were free to go."
