6. Isn't that what all the pro sports are coming down to?
Except US soccer since they REALLY have to love playing the game and love the US to stay rather than get paid loads more in Europe.

19. Usually if they are playing in the US, they aren't good enough for Europe

3. I love my Spurs!
Edited on Thu Mar-24-05 05:48 PM by fleabert
too bad I don't have the option to watch them very often on the West Coast. Sure, they'll play Miami and Detroit, but not SA and Detroit, the two most recent Champs.

The spurs represent what professional basketball should be, they are an amazing team with impeccable talent and behavior, on and off the court!

GO SPURS! (get well soon, Tim)

but the opposite of course! (gotta support those Texas teams! except for A&M)

(since I move so often, I take up the cause of the home team unless they are playing a Texas team. except I will never root for the Lakers or the Redskins!)

...although my interest in pro basketball tends to vary in direct proportion to the competitiveness of the Cavaliers.

Scheiss Bayern!

7. Well, I've never really gotten into any pro sports
Except baseball which I enjoy (but am not fanatical about). But I can watch a good football game and hockey can be exciting - basketball has always been a yawner for me.

13. Absolutely, thanks to Chuck Daly
The old Pistons coach saved the sport, IMO. The '80s were a triumph of garbage basketball, essentially a glorified layup drill or uncontested 10 foot jump shot. It is beyond belief that era is so fondly revered. The damn average points per game was 218 when I moved to Las Vegas in the late '80s. I remember telling someone the proper amount should be in the 140 range if they played the sport the right way, contested possessions for 48 minutes.

Well, they haven't gotten there yet, but thanks to Chuck Daly and his Pistons snuffing out the Showtime Lakers the game has matured beautifully. They try all these ridiculous rules changes, like defensive 3 second violations, to bring back the uptempo crap of the '80s, but it will never happen unless they enlarge the size of the playing court. Huge men who are now conditioned to deny, deny, deny are not going back to the pantyhose style of 20 years ago.

Now, if you asked if anyone cares about baseball...

My goal is not to watch a single pitch all season, even via Sportscenter replay.

14. I disagree...
...Chuck Daly's thugs helped usher in the NBA's Dark Ages, perpetuated by the Knicks-Heat bloodbaths. The only thing that made the NBA worth watching in that timeframe was Jordan.

and actually prefer it to college ball. (I know, I know, sacrilege.)

I am a long time and long suffering Sonic fan. I still remember the first sonic game I listened to as a kid, Slick Watts vs. Nate "Tiny" Archibald. (Sonics/KC Kings.)

25. Nope.
I've NEVER liked basketball, to watch at all or to play.

I used to love baseball, I can tolerate football, I can somewhat like NASCAR (hubby does), I like horse racing ... but I hate basketball. Especially the squeeky shoes on the floor when you watch it live.

Now if those NBA players would wear some nice sexy outfits, instead of those damn baggy short, I might be able to watch.
