EarlG, Elad & Skinner appreciation thread.

I just wanted to say how much I appreciate DU. I've gotten involved in politics for the first time ever. Back in '01 I posted asking how to volunteer for a campaign & Skinner told me what to do & who to call. Since then I've volunteered for Moveon.org. & the Kerry campaign. For the first time ever I've called my repug Senator (don't need to worry about the Dem) & gave him-well the gal who answered the phone-my opinion on various issues. I've followed CSPAN & debates in congress. I don't think I ever would have done all that without DU.

I know DU can't be everything to everybody, but how much good I get out of it more than out ways the negatives.

Look at this website. This is easily one of the very nicest, user-friendly sites I've participated on. If I had to get my news, discussion and smartassery from a site like, oh, I don't know, Free Republic, I'd slash my wrists with a popsicle stick.

12. I read ATA all the time and, believe me, they put up with the most

assinine bullshit imagineable. People whine, bitch, moan and cry over posts where they have obviously broken rules and the admins seem to have infinite patience. I'm amazed that they can retain any sense of humor at all-but, from time to time, they let loose some real zingers.

They are remarkable and I am not in the least shy about sucking up.

19. Heavy traffic but all features go, I noticed.

With the message volume these last few days, you'd expect that certain features like avatars, sig lines, etc., would be disabled temporarily to save bandwidth. Looks like the guys have made some major hardware upgrades, because that hasn't happened!

And DU is running at full speed!

and without them this site wouldn't last twenty minutes. Frankly I don't know how they deal with 67,000 self-professed misbehavors.

I wish I had found this site and community years ago. I think I'll buy a star next week. No smilies though. Please don't make me use them.
