Woman bites into finger at San Jose restaurant
A diner bit into a segment of human finger while digging into a bowl of chili at a San Jose Wendy's restaurant Tuesday night, Santa Clara County health officials said today.

The woman, who asked officials not to name or even describe her, spit out the well-cooked digit and reportedly warned other diners to stop eating. She then became sick to her stomach.

Santa Clara County Health Officer Dr. Martin Fenstersheib said today the woman was horrified "due to the unpleasant sensation of having this (object) in her mouth."

But he said the finger had been cooked at a high enough temperature to kill any viruses, including hepatitis or HIV, and it was unlikely that she will suffer any health effects from her experience, aside from psychological trauma.

I saw pictures of the finger in question. Twice. Gah.

3. Watch the movie "Soylent Green" --
I can't remember the advertising slogan in the old movie -- but I do recall what "Finding Nemo" used (slightly paraphrased):

"PEOPLE are friends, not FOOD"

14. She Didn't "Make" Anything; She Had Third-Degree Burns
"Stella Liebeck wanted only to be reimbursed for the cost of her medical treatment alone and to settle the case, but McDonald's opposed her request and took the case to trial.

Stella was severely injured. At 72 years old, she suffered third degree burns to her legs and genitals, was hospitalized for over a week, and had to have multiple skin grafts.

McDonald's lost—a jury of American citizens heard the evidence and decided against the company.

During discovery, McDonald's produced documents showing more than 700 claims by other people burned by its coffee over a 10 year period and still refused to sell its coffee at a safe temperature."

21. REP, I apologize for my insensitive comments last night.
I must have been nuts or sleepy. My father was a lawyer and he represented many poor souls who had judgements against doctors, companies, etc.

I recall one man who was repairing a ferris wheel for an amusement company. The wheel was supposed to be locked, but it moved, and that man had to endure amputation of both legs, which were mangled.

Again, I apologize -- and thanks for the citation about the persons who were burned. I only drink cold coffee -- comes from living in a hot climate (Miami) while growing up.
