Mystery buffs: What is your favorite Agatha Christie novel?
I do enjoy reading a good english drawing room mystery on a cold, rainy night with a blazing fire roaring and a glass of sherry brought to me by my butler Jeeves.

But my favorite Christie is "And Then There Were None"

My favorite Poirot: "The ABC Murders"

My Favorite Marple: "The Moving Finger"

2. "Why didn't they ask Evans"
was one of my favorites (not Miss Marple or Poirot)-- ingenious plot and very good chemistry between the characters.

I also enjoyed "The ABC Murders" (Poirot), "4:50 from Paddington" (Miss Marple) and "The Pale Horse" (possibly Poirot but I'm not certain).

I am sure I would have WOULD have loved "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd", which is generally acknowledged as Agatha Christie's finest work, but years ago one of my friends ruined it for me (before I had even bought it) by telling me the identity of the killer! If you have not read this book, and you do not know whodunnit, you should definitely read it.

3. Agatha Christie cheats
She always gives the dective an extra bit of evidence that the reader is never made privy to.

4. I don't remember ever seeing this
and I have read many Agatha Christies.

Most often she does give the reader clues but they are very subtle and you often don't notice them. For example, a character refers to something that occurred earlier in the book that they would have had no way of knowing about. This tells you that earlier in the book this character was disguised as another character (so they were probably involved in the crime). (This happened in "4:50 From Paddington").

6. Mmm, I like Christie, but some of the other
British mystery writers of her era, were, IMO, much more entertaining: Josephine Tey, Ngioh Marsh, Dorothy Sayers -- I *adore* Lord Peter mysteries.

Wish I could find some more mystery writers of that era... Anyone know of any?
