I love 'em, and I think they are funnier than hell.

Bet some thin skinned moran is smacking alert right now (yeah, and you have every right to be offended at being called a moran, but only if the shoe fits...)so much for freedom of speech. And yet we call ourselves Democrats, defenders of the principles of the Constitution. That is, except when someone's tender sensibilities gets offended a little.

Go read up on the history of black humor. It's a means of catharsis.

Sure, not everyone thinks it's funny, so what? Ignore it rather than deprive us who appreciate it from being able to share it with those who feel likewise. Maybe DU should have an area for it...no holds barred, no whining to the mods...you enter that area at your own risk.

It's not like this is some new phenomenon. How many space shuttle jokes were told (NASA = Need Another Seven Astronauts, etc.), how many James Brady jokes (What is Reagans' favorite vegetable?), how many Natalie Wood jokes (What kind of wood doesn't float?). This isn't limited to the last 30 years, I'm sure folks older than I am could relate 1,000 more "sick" jokes of events past.

Grow some thicker skin folks. Sometimes you need to laugh because it keeps you from crying.
