Maybe in a month or so.

I need to find me a sweet bachelor's pad first.

Glad to hear about the new job and the move. Now we'll have to get ourselves organized and have a meetup!

on edit: Forgive if you know about this alraedy, but craigslist.org is the best place to find housing. Everybody posts there, and for more than just apartments :-)

A meetup would be cool.

Do you have any recommendations on where I should (or shouldn't) live?

Anywhere from SF to San Mateo is fair game.

EDIT: Yes....I have been looking on Craigslist. And for more than just apartments too....

12. Let me pump my own burg, Pacifica
Cheapest place to live on the coast, and I think it's the most beautiful, but you would have to put up with one main road in and out of town (Highway 1). Plus, it's one of the whitest places in the Bay Area, which may or may not matter to you. But you are only a 15 minute drive south of the city, and 30 minutes away from the Bay Bridge.

18. How's the morning/afternoon commute?
My job is on the eastern side of the peninsula in South SF, so i would have to cross the peninsula to somehow get to 101. There doesn't seem to be any good way to cut across the peninsula.

20. If you're going to work in South City,
then you would most likely be using 101, yes; *or* you might be safe taking 280 to a cross-Peninsula road, like Westborough, and then traveling up, say, Gateway or another airport road into SSF. It would depend on your point of origin.

In general, the evening commute is worse than the morning; if you can get staggered hours, though, you'd have very little issue with traffic.

Also, if you are going to work in SSF, you might want to look at Brisbane, which is on the east side of San Bruno Mountain.

he has a studio for $1000 a month but if you fogo the parking garage and park in the regular lot it's only $700 a month. If you want the name of the place pm me and i'll send you the info.

More sun than the rest of the city, and great restaurants and bars.

That was no 'splosion today in Texas City... that was Slutticus going crayzee!!

Congratulations! I made my great escape from Houston to SF in 1998.

Now do yourself a favor and go eat, one last time, at every restaurant you love, with emphasis on shrimp, Gulf fish, and Tex-Mex. Ain't gonna be no more $2.99 /lb medium shrimp around here. And all the great burrito places out here notwithstanding, I'd still love to get me a big old mess of stuff at La Mexicana, or that 24-hour place in the Heights with the tortilla machine.

Can you believe that you'll probably live somewhere with NO air conditioning???

Good luck and again, CONGRATULATIONS! :toast:

28. I'm definitely going to miss the tex-mex places.
Especially the 24hr/365d places. Theres no other place on earth you can get a fajita dinner and a margarita at 4:30 in the morning on Christmas day!

I plan on visiting my friends here pretty often though ...at least until the loneliness wears off. I hate moving away :( ....even though it's for the best.

I need to meet some Bay Area DUers!

Taqueria la Cumbre http://www.frommers.com/destinations/sanfrancisco/D41270.html
It's in the Mission District.
