Poll question: What is your favorite Halloween Song?
Hi all!

Ahhh...October...birthday month (bad), and "Halloween" month (good!). I'm a bit of an obsessive when it comes to "Halloween" (i.e. house decked out, and a rather huge "Halloween" music collection). Figured I'd find out what everyone's favorite "Halloween" song is...

BTW (Plug!), I posted two hours of streaming "Halloween" music on my site (http://www.perkypat.com). Check it out if you want...family friendly (other than the last 10 minutes or so)...

1. Five Little Pumpkins Sitting On A Gate
the first one says Oh my it's getting late.
The second one says there are witches in the air
The third one says but I don't care.
The fourth one says I'm ready for some fun
The fifth one says let's run and run and run.

Ooooh-ooo went the wind
And out went the lights
And the five little pumpkins
Rolled out of sight.

8. "Blood Letting" by Concrete Blonde
I celebrate Samhain instead of Halloween, and for purely Halloween purposes I like somethign a little more on the dark and wicked side of the house.

12. Damn...
I voted for "Time Warp" before I saw your post. Concrete Blond ROCKS!Mmm...dark and wicked...;-)

And you can celebrate Halloween and Samhain both. I do. :-) Halloween for fun and candy and scaring the kids and Samhain for something a little more spiritual and a lot more grown-up.

15. Didn't realize there were so many Halloween Songs
& how much I liked them. Voted for "I Put a Spell On You" for the sake of tradition.

One obscure recommendation: Michael Hurley's "Werewolf"--may be found on "The Moray Eels Eat the Holy Modal Rounders". Really scary, although most of that album is frightening in some sense.

The Cramps: Everything they ever recorded!

Finally: "Gris Gris Gumbo Ya Ya" by Dr. John the Nighttripper. Not specifically Halloween/Samhain based, but will definitely take you to another place.

Yeah, I didn't put "Werewolf" by them up (figured it was too obscure...cool that you mentioned it!!!). I LOVE that album...truly the most 'cracked' album of the 60's!!!

And thanks everybody for your cool input!!!

16. How could you forget the most blood-chilling Halloween song of all?
"It's Halloween", by The Shaggs.

Words cannot convey the spine-tingling, atonal horror that IS this band!

23. Women faint, children scream, strong men clutch their chests . . .
. . . when The Shaggs come on the stereo.

Without question, the most effective party-clearing music ever recorded! ;-)

21. Not really a song, but Mussorgsky's Night On Bald Mountain
which everybody knows from Disney's Fantasia (ie: the spooky, red-eyed Mountain Monster with the flying skeletons et al).

Second place goes to Saint-Saëns' Danse macabre.

22. Toss-up between the Cramps and the Sonics!
Damn! Actually, my old band covered both those tunes whenever Halloween rolled around. Sometimes, we'd throw in the Sonics' "Strychnine" for good measure (just for the creepy intro.)
