Hey guess what?? I was just prosletyzed!!!
I was quietly folding laundry in my dorm room while watching the Heat/Rockets game on TNT, when I hear a knock on my door. It's a girl that I know who lives on my floor with an entourage of two other guys behind her. She asks me to attend the next Campus Crusade for Christ meeting on campus, and she tries to give me an information booklet.

I try not to tell her that I'm Muslim (I didn't know what the consequences of that would be), and I just tell her that I'm not a very religious person, so no thanks. She gives me her schtick on how lots of non-religious people attend their meetings, so then I have to pull out my trump card and tell her that I'm Muslim, and that I don't want any argument about religion, but thanks anyway. I KNEW that would drive them away, because they then gave it up and left me alone!!!

Fucking fundies.:grr:

1. I never liked CC for C.
I would never say they were much for devout faith. They were your annoying fundie types, didn't think much, highly hypocritical, large number of athletes and frat guys trying to get laid went when I was in college.

I would love them to try and prosetylze me now, knowing what I do about the Bible, I'd rattle their tiny fundie minds. This is the time to have your fun, don't let it go !!!

2. When my parents first moved to Arkansas
(I know, but my dad was in the Air Force at the time) the guy next door came over and introduced himself by saying, "Hi, I'm So-and-so. What church do you go to?"

My dad was floored. He told him they were non-practicing Druids, and the guy next door never spoke to either of them again. Getting proselytized sucks.

Our campus Christian group just placed a huge full-page ad in our paper about why we should ask them about Jesus. Then, one of them wrote an editorial about why everyone should do that. (The editorial's here: http://www.yaleherald.com/article.php?Article=4155 It's funny, if you've got 5 minutes to spare.) But I find the idea of them invading your room to do that really obnoxious. Sorry you had to play your trump to get them to leave you alone. That's annoying as hell.

3. "non-practicing Druids" It's perfect!
I'm gonna save that one for a 'just in case' use.

4. I have this on my storm door
NO SOLICITORS!

This includes but is not limited to:
• Girl Scout Cookie Sellers
• Home Security Salespeople
• Paper Deliverers
• AND ESPECIALLY ANYONE WANTING TO TELL ME WHY THEIR RELIGION IS BETTER THAN MINE *

--------------------

Then there's a picture of a man and a woman holding a bible with a circle around them and a line through the circle like a No Smoking sign.

Down at the bottom in smaller print is the blurb that goes with the asterisk:

---------------------------

* Jehovah Witnesses are exceptions only if you’re prepared to talk about Deuteronomy 18:20-22 (false prophets) in relation to certain predictions that your church elders have made that did not come true.
** Mormons pretending to be Jehovah Witnesses will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

---------------------------

I did this because I kept getting woken up from naps on the weekends by the damn Mormons, and then I realized, I really, really hate people... who come to my door to try to sell me something so let's make it all inclusive but really pick on the religious nuts.

5. Sounds like a great way to get rid of a fundy.
I'll have to try that next time I get cornered.
